Poll: What ONE thing would increase your activity in SWL?

I think many of us here are not naive enough to think that any constructive change will come of this Poll. I’m realistic enough to see that what would generate any meaningful change would require perhaps even all of these things in short succession. However this Poll has shown me something more valuable in that it has brought together more players then I first anticipated. A lot of posts are showing up as a players first time posting on these forums or returning after many months. This game has a powerful way of staying in the back of players minds even after they’ve “moved on” to other games.

I’m actually not sure what would increase my play time… it’s relatively nice to have new missions and/or a new zone to explore… it might be nice to have new dungeons and/or see what all the fuss of “bring back our dungeons!” is about… I feel I suck at pvp, but (if I thought about it I might do what we have and) I might at least try it if they added more arenas… I feel I also suck at raid-type content, but if I could be convinced to do it it might be fun… I don’t entirely disagree with a little weapon or gear re-balancing (I don’t understand weapons, gear, or the abilities thing, I probably need a lot of help with that… especially for people who play more seriously to be interested in having me in their group - looks to the side - )…

No surprise that mission pack has most votes, but I voted for dungeons because I don’t want another mission pack with the quality of a cheap mobile game. At least the old dungeons were of good quality and mfa/mfb had good story elements.

We were used to mission packs like Tyler Freeborn, Last train to Cairo or Dream to Kill, but I doubt that Funcom can ever deliver such quality again. SA was a total joke and I prefer not to ever have any more ‘story’ content like that.

In the end, we had a poll like this on the forum a couple of months ago and now we’re having one again. The result will be the same and nothing will change.

Rabbit’s MOTD :

However, I can’t disagree.
I’m still wondering how Funcom managed to commercialise a 12-month Patron Bundle, with no clear roadmap on the future content.

Fun fact : the bundle was supposed to be available for a limited time only. They released it on early February. It’s still purchasable. I guess they forgot to click on the button again…
Anyway, as long as players are actively encouraged to pay, they won’t call it a maintenance mode.

I’ll just put this here:

Bring the missing TSW dungeons and raids to SWL

Thanks I was wondering whatever came of that!

I would like something not listed here - to have new mechanics/game loop added to the game. Ofcourse the new story would be great, but without good core game loop based on the world I don’t see it as sustainable. But other than that - a new character NPC coming to one of the main cities offering his story and daily tasks for him is maybe the most suitable small addition for the type of this game (story with no mechanics like reputation, crafting, local factions, RP mechanics like hobbies etc.)

There’s one thing you mentioned that I think would be absolutely amazing. Reputation. I think not only is It quite fitting for this game being that we have so many different factions in the game but also it is a relatively simple mechanic that could add a ton of game play and even some good story elements.

New full scale zone. On the level of KM/SC/BM or even KM+SC+BM. With non-linear exploration, NPCs with background, quests that tell about zone, mystery, new mobs and bosses, new lore. Exploration and mystery are things I enjoyed the most in TSW. Anything less won’t entice me to download game again.
FC could start with roadmap.

The petition has still been simmering in the background all this time, slowly accumulating support. I plan on promoting it quite a bit during the anniversary event. I figure it will gain some traction there. Afterwards I will decide what I want to do with the results–how I want to present them to Funcom, that is.

That IMO was a clear sign of the fact that they could not provide any roadmap at all, it really sounded like a way to grab some money untill they could, as sad as it can be …

From a purely selfish perspective…

I have already played the dungeons, raids and PvP from TSW. So new story content is best for me. But of course, I would love to have it all back.

I think for me, I’d prefer dungeons and new mission packs over anything else. It’s hard to really pick one over the other because the zones/missions are what pull people in, myself included, but group content kept me around.

I still remember being introduced to TSW way back in the day. It was my first PC game and first MMO all together. I played with my roommate at the time before she hopped to another game. I stuck around because the spooky-ness of Soloman Island was amazing and it was right up my alley (which I think that creepy, spooky feel was missing from New Dawn for me, which left it feeling pretty lack luster for my personal taste). So naturally, I wanted to finish the story line and see what the rest of the game was about.

However, the group content is what kept me around once I finished all of the story content. I love dungeons and raids and lairs and allllll of those group activities. I’m a social person, so being able to play this game and enjoy the content with others is priceless. Not to mention, TSW requires teamwork and skill to complete harder levels of dungeons/raids. I still remember getting groups together to run HF/Fac/Ankh for master planner in TSW days, before the phrase “looking for 18s/24s” faded away. :stuck_out_tongue: Gosh, remember those days?! It’s crazy to think about, but always brings me a smile!

I’ve met so many wonderful people through this game, both as TSW and SWL. I still talk to a lot of them, even the ones who have taken a hiatus. I look forward to meeting more and I’m just hoping for any type of update at this point. I would be happy with anything. :slightly_smiling_face:

We share a similar experience. It was actually myself and a roommate that first started playing TSW almost 6 years ago. He moved onto other games and was always one to hop from one game to the next but I got sucked into TSW for good lol. He still jokes every time we meet “You still playing that game!”

In any case I wouldn’t consider myself a very social person in that I actively seek social settings but at the same time in an odd way I enjoy the feeling of there being others around and sharing experiences with other players. Its one reason why I rarely can enjoy a truly single player game, it just feels very empty to me and when its over that’s it no-one but you shared that experience (unless your streaming I guess). Moments shared with other players are really what has kept me around so long and with a community like the one in this game it has been mostly positive experiences and great memories (some of the fondest actually being from old TSW pvp).
Fingers crossed they do a little advertising/promotion and get a fresh influx of players for the anniversary because this is a time when the community really shines which is a great experience for new players.

From the choices given I went with new content.

I do like a suggestion I read in comments, making difficulty choices for dungeons etc suited to single player as well as duos, groups. This would open up more things for the solo/duo players.

Personally I hate pvp and is one of the reasons I came to this game the pvp is not open world. But I do appreciate many people love it so maybe they can do more with it, even advertise it more in game, at the moment there are not many references to available pvp in game for those that would like it. But please do not force it on anyone, the thought of battles while trying to do quests in my own time would drive me away from the game.

At this point? New areas/missions/filling existing areas. Not because I think its absolutely all the game needs, but because its been over a year since the last bigger push of it and this game (IMO) survives on delivering any of it.

Dungeons and raids second. It is hilarity to me that a relaunch allowed itself to be in the state that not even the old version instances haven’t been ported over, two years in.

PvP is of import, and I’d want at least a returning battleground in the next year, but SWL will never be a PvP focused game.

Mid-2019 and no Congo? U wat mate?
