The Update Broke Siptah

Platform: PC, but I’ve heard reports of it happening on PS4 also.
Issue Type: Server Crash
Game Mode: Multiplayer
Server Type: All
Map: Isle of Siptah
Server Name: All
Mods: Reported on server with and without mods.

Bug Description:

Following the latest Conan Exiles update, our server has been encountering frequent crashes. The primary issue is an
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error, which suggests a potential memory access problem. This issue has been observed
not only on our modded server but also reported by others on unmodded servers, indicating a broader problem potentially
stemming from the latest game update.

The error message recorded in the server logs is:

LogWindows:Error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x00000790

There is no detailed stack trace available in the logs for this error. The crash occurs specifically when someone has built too close to the new NPC that spawns at C-9, or possibly new enemy spawns around that location. After careful observation, I’ve pinpointed the crashes to this particular element with 100% certainty, however, that’s not to say there aren’t other new problem areas after the update, I just know this was the one that did it for me. The removal of a player’s base, which was situated very close to this NPC, has since eliminated the crashes, confirming this.

Bug Reproduction:

  1. Launch the Conan Exiles online on any server with the Isle of Siptah Map.
  2. Engage in regular gameplay activities.
  3. The server crashes unexpectedly at various times, displaying the mentioned EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error in the log.

This issue started occurring immediately after the latest game update and has been a consistent problem since. No specific
actions have been identified that reliably trigger the crash; it appears to occur at random intervals.

My hypothesis was correct. Building at this location, shown at C-9, causes crashes. I’ve tested it repeatedly in single-player. I also witnessed an online server that found a way to remove this NPC to solve the issue. I’m not sure how they did it because they refused to share. I assume there’s an option for it in the settings somewhere. I need to look into it further. I’m unsure if this is the only problematic location, or if there are others. This is the only one where there was a conflict on my server.

Bump

hmm

I want to emphasize these are server crashes, not client crashes.

We just started playing Siptah on our server a few days ago and this is happening on our server also. I am attempting to remove bedrolls and foundations in a few locations to test this. Maybe we have one in one of the other problematic locations.
