Bartender system causing hard crashes

Basic Info:

Platform: Xbox Series X
Issue Type: Crash
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: N/A
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: N/A

Bug Description:

After playing for a period of time around your base where there’s a bartender and a full bar (all seating is occupied), the client will crash to the home screen. There are no error messages displayed. You don’t need to be actually doing anything at the time, the crash can occur when your character is idle.

The only thing that can seem to consistently indicate a crash will occur soon is when all seating is occupied, and there are “incoming” patrons who seem to be stuck at the door outside the entrance to the bar (they aren’t moving, they’re just standing near the entrance).

To confirm that the problem was likely some kind of background processing being performed with regards to the bar, I removed the bartender, restarted the game and let the bar “depopuplate” itself over time. Since I’ve removed the bartender from the bar, there have been no further crashes.

Note that this is an Xbox Series X, so there are no mods that could possibly be affecting anything.

Bug Reproduction:

Place a bar and and a bartender. Add a few additional seats (I have 7 total in the building) and wait for the bar to fill with patrons. Additional patrons will appear outside the entrance and become “stuck” there.

The crash will typically happen some period of time after that, but there’s no way I’ve found to consistently determine when. It’s likely related to some internal tasks being performed in the background based on some interval where the code cycles through patrons (some leaving, new ones arriving).

Thank you for taking the time to report this.

To add, I’ve found my textures look like clay right before the crash.

I’m wondering if this problem is their attempt to make it more “realistic” to spawn bar patrons around your base and have them walk to the bar, rather than simply spawn in sitting on an available seat.

If that’s the case, I’d definitely take the less realistic option of just having them magically appear in a seat rather than sporadically crashing the game.
