About a year ago, Conan Exiles would suddenly refuse to start when choosing the BattlEye option. Luckily this was fairly rare, so I could still play the game. Over time, however, it became more frequent. Now when I try to play the game, there is not a single successful launch. The ConanSandbox_BE.exe executable itself is blocked by BattlEye.
Here's the error message that it displays:
12:33:09: Starting BattlEye Service...
12:33:12: Launching game...
12:33:13: Note: File blocks can be ignored if they don't cause problems with the game.
12:33:13: [INFO] Blocked loading of file: "S:\Games\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe".
This is very strange. No mods, 100% intact files that have been verified through Steam, even on a completely fresh install of Windows 10. There is no antivirus running with even Windows Defender disabled, no injectors are running (e.g MSI Afterburner), just a bog standard windows 10 LTSC install.
Any idea why this is?
EDIT:
I’ve found what’s causing the problem. If AMD Freesync, or Surface Format Optimization is enabled, BattlEye will block the executable. Which is a big issue, since Freesync is a godsend for games.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
- Install Windows 10 LTSC 2019
- Install Conan Exiles
- Install BattlEye when prompted
- Run the game with BattlEye, the ConanSandbox_BE.exe executable will be blocked by BattlEye.
