BUG:Sprint attack desync

Bug Reproduction:

When using an attack around the exact point where you can perform a sprint attack instead of a regular one, the attack may sometimes bug and inherit properties from either type.

In low-lag conditions, the attack might inherit the stamina cost and damage multiplier of the sprint attack while still appearing as a regular attack. For example, when tested with a hammer’s overhead swing, the damage was reduced, aligning with the 1.0 damage modifier of the sprint attack instead of the usual 1.5 modifier of the overhead swing.

In higher lag environments (tested in the dev kit with 500 added ping and 30% packet loss), the opposite can occur commonly. Here, the sprint attack may inherit properties of the regular attack. Observing this from a third-person perspective in the dev kit resulted in a sprint with a buggy animation that corresponded to the attack it inherited damage from.

can see reproduction in unmodded low lag devkit above. First two sprints are normal, third one hits harder and cripples.
Sprint and first heavy animation are similar, but the heavy has a red weapon trail whereas the sprint one doesn’t. In the upper window we can see that trail, but not the lower one.

No, check the right screen compared to left. Left is a mix of the first heavy and a sprint, right is pure sprint.

Here’s a hammer example, very easy to tell the animations apart. First attack is a regular heavy, then sprint desync.

I chose the gaxe as it’s very easy to spot that the sprint cripples and does more damage.

How is even possible to replicate this, it’s just randomly triggered or?

Some random element but largely timing related. You want to trigger the sprint attack just as you are able to use it.

It is easy to macro this. Sprint for .79 seconds then heavy attack. Works with any weapon. Katana/2h hammer is the “best” to use this with.

It has been a thing for a while now. I believe it is a server/client communication issue. Server doesnt register you being able to sprint attack but because you are client side you move at sprint attack speed.
