I am still having issues with the DedicateServerLauncher detecting server (443030) update. It fails almost 60-70% of the time and I end up having to manually restart the server for the update to take place.

I did a bit of research and found out that if you add +logoff to the SteamCMD command, the app_info_update command works again everytime.

So the full command would be : steamcmd.exe +login anonymous +app_info_update 1 +app_info_print 443030 +logoff +quit

Would it be possible to update the dedicateds server launcher command so it can again detect server update?

Interesting.

The DSL uses SteamCMD for two different things:

  • Fetching the latest server and mods
  • Requesting the workshop to see if there are new versions.

Do you think the +logoff should be added to both queries?

@Ecaps79 please, could you try this version and tell me if that solves the problem?

I tried it at least 10 times and everytime got a response with a manual status check.

My players will be pleased to know the server will auto update from now on :slight_smile:

From my understanding, Steam changed something with the +quit last year around the Steam Summer Sale.

I notice that if you exclude +logoff, it tends to work 30-40% of the time, but returns nothing when it doesn’t.

I guess using a +logoff on all SteamCMD queries is now mandatory :wink:

To everybody else: Could you give a shot at this version, see if it still work fine for you - or solve the same problem if you had it? - so I can push 1.7.8 to be the new official version?

EDIT: This is not a log of errors of DSL 1.7.7, this is just a bit of the log of the game server, game server errors are not for this forum here.

Small new version of the DSL with some tweaks to the “run script” feature.
Someone on the Discord server pointed out some issues, and I realized that the log did not contain any information about anything happening regarding the script operation, so I added that.

In addition, if the script fails to run, you will get notified that something’s wrong on your Discord webhook if it’s enabled.

Fixed a few issues with the “Run Script” feature:

  • The log now contains a line indicating the script is running (or failing) with the complete path and parameters
  • The blocking dialog is now a Windows notification popup
  • If Discord is configured, you will receive a message there saying that the script could not run

So DSL did an update this morning an now all i am seeing fill up my logs is: “AI:Warning: Data: Move To Location should have a movement purpose set.” So something cause this to begin, but not sure what to check for?

Are you using mods?
Could be mods that did not get updated yet.

I think you should really consider where you’re leaving the promotion comments for your server as this post is specifically for the Dedicated Server Launcher.

Toolguy provided us with a means to see the server log file without having to track it down in the file system. The log shown is for the server, not the DSL - the problem is with the server, not DSL. This is the wrong discussion topic to request help with the server.

I was thinking about the post I made pointing out that this is not the proper topic for help with issues with the dedicated server itself; the requester’s post is now gone. A few minutes ago I looked for the proper place for that help and came up empty handed.

I am going to suggest either adding a pinned topic “Dedicated Server Administration” to the “PC Servers & Clans” subcategory or make that a subcategory of “PC Discussion” so people can get help in the right topic.

This is not the proper topic for discussing the problem, so please send me to the right place: it is here because on several occasions I have seen posts asking for help with the server.

So I’m kinda stumped at the moment. I’ve used this app for years, it’s my go-to manager for Conan. I updated it like normal, just copying the new .exe into the same spot and so far everything seems fine.

The manager correctly shows where the server .exe is at the top and if I click on it opens the folder, no problem. It shows the full path N:\Games\Conan Exiles Dedi\DedicatedServerLauncher\ConanExilesDedicatedServer\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandboxServer-Win64-Shipping.exe

As soon as steamcmd finishes updates, it throws an error saying “Game server executable could not be located”

It now does this every time DSL tries to start the server.
But if I manually start the .exe that DSL located automatically, it runs fine, and DSL tracks everything normally. I just can’t restart the server now with DSL

Decided to try and see if I could work around this and it turns out putting a symbolic link pointing to the shipping.exe in the path from the popup dialog actually lets DSL start the server

It's normally what it does, that's very weird, never seen that before. Wonder if it's a bug triggered by the presence of spaces in the "Conan Exiles Dedi" :thinking:

So I did some testing and checking:

  • The space in the name does not matter
  • Yes the launcher uses the ConanSandboxServer.exe at the top of the installation, and the reason is that at some point the name of the executable in the bin folder was changing, so that was the easiest way to avoid problems.

Now the question is why it did not work for you, did somewhat the ConanSandboxServer.exe get corrupted and disappeared?

Have you tried to run a “validate” of the install?

Unfortunately we are not legally allowed to distribute on PC any code containing proprietary console APIs from either Sony or Microsoft, which is why only a select few server providers are allowed to provide Exiles game servers for console players.
