Crash leads to "Please Verify Steam Files"

As I exited the game, it crashed. Upon attempting to restart the game hours later, I had to verify steam files because of “missing or corrupted files”. Previously, game crashed mid play, again, I had to verify steam files.

It might not always be the case but, unfortunately, that’s an expected consequence of games crashing, as it can lead to corrupted files and the verification process can detect and replace them.
