I find there is a lot of things going on in the compound if you take the time to read the lore and look around. The compound is actually a lot creepier than some of the more visual in your face areas and missions. I mean it is in your face but it hides in this kind of nice looking façade. Here are some subtle things I noticed:

You cant use ainma form at night but you can use it at day.

The portal to Agartha has to hide in a warehouse other zones else its out in the open for the most part.

Nomsa maybe a bee and from the sounds of it she is being killed repletely by tokoloshe. She has bricks under the bed to keep them at bay during the night. Her shack has a door at night when the tokoloshe come but at day the door isn’t even there.

Looking at the daily schedule is required by the mission. There is a whole lot about this I find interesting because when you think about the announcements and sayings “the dawn is coming”, the brothers calling you lamb and wanting to eat you; and repeating of this over and over by the npcs. I am kind drawing a conclusion that the schedule echoes their play book. Dawn is when they first eat. It plays into the whole concept of destruction-creation.

The announcements play into this too “be the light” “you are all made of stars” “dream, dream of stars that scream”. Stars “scream” when being ripped apart by black holes when this happens it releases light creates star debris.

“Your body is just your vehicle, you are not your vehicle. There is only empty space and you. And you are just a thought”. This is kind of interesting if you ever delve into concepts people have about a universal consciousness. You would find more about this in Psychonaut circles.

There is also “be the change”, and the next level thing we know from Tokyo what that involves.

There is a whole lot more I could get into story wise but it would be too much typing. I think there is a lot of good things in the area even though it is small. The story isn’t just the missions in that area it’s the whole place and everything happening inside it.

Your spoiler tag broke! Interesting about the announcements playing though, I never hear any.

Totally agree with you, the entire place down to the lighting effects tells a story. And it’s a creepy one.

A small thing that really caught my attention was the NPC who talks about how he just wants to get home and see his kids. If you’ve ever done much research into Jonestown or other cults, this is a real thing that’s happened to real people - being stuck in a remote location bc they didn’t realize it was a cult soon enough and then trying to either get home to kids (but not being allowed to leave) or wanting to leave but having their kids held by the cult. Many many shades of terrifying real world horror in that simple set of lines.

I’m disappointed with Funcom, although after playing their games since Anarchy Online first came out, I can’t say I’m surprised. After progressing all the way to the end of the main storyline, me and my wife (Both Dragon faction) waited pretty anxiously for a continuation of the story. So when the Morninglight update came out we were pretty eager to log in and play. Approximately 3 hours later, the entire story is done, all the other missions are done, all lore gathered.

I’m left wondering, did we really wait all this time for basically one playsession worth of content from Funcom? What happened to actual expansions instead of just something that boils down to a mission pack. This is not much larger than the missions like FC put out for Tyler Freeborn, et al. and given how well the storyline was going, and how your character was starting to integrate into this it’s very disappointing that it was so short. Now it’s back to surfing, other MMOs and waiting for what might possibly be another year for another more content to make up another 3 hour playsession. This is a real shame because the storyline in SWL is freaking amazing.

It would seem to me, that it would be better to focus efforts on more content for the game people seriously enjoy and are devoted to, instead of trying to remake the tabletop game “Gamma World” into a computer game.

What’s the game that they should be focussing on? I’m a bit confused with that statement because despite what some people might say, people ARE seriously enjoying this game and ARE devoted to SWL.

Unfortunately, it looks like this thread is spiraling downhill and seems to no longer be constructive.
