Frequency of events

Hello Conanians!

The frequence or conditions for events have been discussed several times on these forums. And maaaaybe, I found something strange:

On my old single player game, I saw three or four events after months of them getting re-introduced. I tried every idea I had to make them spawn, teleported around with admin powers. restarted the game, checked other spawn places via teleport after finishing the rare event I witnessed. Still, the spawn rate seemed so low I assumed that a player could never ever witness one.

Now, I started a new game - again, PC single player. And events start like crazy, maybe 30% to 50% of visiting a location. I’ve had more events in a week than in months before. And it seems - yes, seems - too strong of a change to be random.

So… am I seeing ghosts? If not, what may have caused this? Was there a sneak change in one of the recent updates? Do certain mods influence the frequency of spawns? Is player level, the amount of buildings present, starting a new game or something like that a factor?

That’ll be hard to find out. SO, let’s start with a poll to see if and how many of us have observed (or believe to have observed) a change.

  • The frequency of events doesnt’s seem to have changed in any significant way.
  • The frequency of events seems to have fallen.
  • The frequency of events seems to have risen.
  • I’m a very special snowflake, don’t conform to your narrow line of questioning and want describe my very individual experience in detail below.

The only difference i saw with events from all the other times, is that they spawn in camps or places we were not used to see them.
So i cannot say if they spawn more or less, because these places are out of my poi when i play the game.

If you are seeing them, so am I. I already had like six or seven spawning in a week or so. Sepermeru, 3. Summoning Place, did 2 ignored 1, Buccaneer’s Bay, 1.
That’s it, if memory doesn’t fail me.
I don’t remember having them spawning so frequently, ever.

I’m quite happy about it.

On Siptah official Server I only see the the Blowback encounter sometimes. I am checking the old locations where they was introduced first quite often on my farm routes but they are realy rare. Snake Cult Caravan and Sacrifce interrupted I have not seen once since they enable the Encounters again.

I’m seeing them more but that could be because I am more aware of the various locations they are popping up. I mean we know the 2 spots in Sepermeru but there are a lot more locations I am running into.

I’m wondering if there is always an event on the map active and we just got to find it. When done, a new one appears. I had that happen with blowback in Sepermeru. I finished it near the temple quarter and it immediately spawned on the other side of the city.

On one particular official server I play on, Blowback has a habit of starting repeatedly in Sepamaru. Good source of looted armor to dismantle for hardened leather, or if you are feeling brave knock out Stormsick Dalinsias, who are strong even by Dalinsia Snowhunter standards. There are also Stormsick Berserkers, but I only ever saw one of them and they rolled with a group of tier three fighters. So capturing that one was not an option, only running or dying.

The exact same happened to me @erjoh .

Exact same thing for me after I started the poll. Events back to back in Sepermeru.

This is me in a nutshell. Since Encounters were reintroduced I had nothing, zip, nada. That is until this last weekend just passed when I got two of them in two days! Perhaps something in the most recent Hotfix got the wheels turning. :man_shrugging:

Ps- voting option 4 made me laugh.

Thanks for the answers so far! The last patch has been named a person of interest by the event police. More investigation needed, though.

I did some polls for work in the last months, and the answers you get… by Crom. Use the boxes, people. It’s “multiple choice” for a quantitative survey, not “write an essay”.

It’s nice and often informative when people tell your their whole experience in detail, but the work needed to get a quantifiable answer from each individual statement is, uhm, farming stone by hand.

That frustration needed to be vented.

I know the feeling. Then again, some surveys and polls have multiple choice questions that are sort of leading questions, and you can’t pick a satisfactory choice. So I understand why some people feel the need to protest.

And if you give me a text box where I can write an essay, you’ll get an essay. If you don’t want essays, don’t give me a chance to write you one.

Sorry for the weird English, it’s a machine translation.I

'll put up a video summarizing where the encounters happen.
(There is an omission in one place.)
It is in Japanese, so if you watch it from the latter part, you will understand a little more.
The video was originally intended to introduce the use of the encounter glaive for leveling up, but it introduces 22 locations in the video.

I’ll also include a live feed from the recent 19-round encounter in Sepermel, so you can use it as a reference for something else. This one is also difficult to understand because it is all in Japanese, but it happened first once at another location and then 19 times in a row at Sepel.

Yes, these are the three places where I encounter events in my single player game. Now, perhaps not as often as a month or two ago. But it happens a couple of times a week for sure.
I observed another mysterious event at UC near the hole in the ceiling of the Archives. It was a circle of power with 4 NPCs praying around it. I encountered this event only once, and its appearance blocked the spawn of the Archivist in the Archives.

How interesting. I never had that one spawning.

Ah, that one! I played it exactly where the picture shows a few times during a previous playthrough. Good to know it’s still around, @Teng . Thanks!

Japan! Been there once some years ago. I was truely impressed. I’ve never seen such a well-organized society.

And, of course, a well-organized video about all events. Great one!
