Hi,
dont get me wrong, i love the “swap” button on the armor display that let you change your armor quick.
But we used to be able to rename the armor displays - and i really miss that.
Can we get this back please?
Not only to name the armor display with the armor it holds but also to use the armor stands as additional decoration-“thralls” on servers with a low follower limit.
With the new Age on the horizon bases on server with a low follower limit might even look emptier than before, since not every crafting bench will have a crafter on display all the time.
I also like to use the armor display as additonal guards or traders at the market or whatever and it would be really great for roleplay if we could rename those again.
A person on my server is in the making of a museum for all armors, but now has to work with signs to show what armor is what instead of just rename the armor display.
I don´t honestly understand why it was removed in the 1st place.
So please consider to give us the ability back to rename the armor display,
Thank you.
There’s a LOT I want to have back. They keep removing things and I don’t think most of us want that to happen.
Because it’s the Funcom way… and sadly the Funcom way is the WRONG way.
This function being removed was 100% unnecessary and is just another bad move by Funcom who clearly don’t know what the players want, or what the game actually needs.
Since Age of War came out the game has been nigh-unplayable and I just want them to do a patch roll back to pre-Sorcery so we can all enjoy the game again… they’ve ruined CE completely but they CAN fix it with a roll back. It isn’t that hard, Funcom - do it. DO IT.
I don´t want a reroll pre-sorcery, i just don´t get why they make the game harder to like with these weird changes players gain nothing from.
Also another small thing, the lying bastard sword was hanging upside down in the single weapon display before and i loved that for decoration, it was just a different look then all the other swords.
They removed that too, just why?
I just hope maybe they read this and give us back the ability to rename the armor display.
Something this minor might happen. Has anyone noticed that the fragment chests in the open world are now called dictionaries. Remember the rip i went on about thinking I’d picked up a fragment yet didn’t have one and couldn’t figure out where it was going. Thought they were empty chest to troll us. ![]()
You all did see that change, right?
Ya, funcom has made a lot of questionable decisions starting with, well, when it went live ![]()
Mine started again when i came back and we got this personal light, oh for the love of Set I wish there was a way to turn it off.
They probably won’t do either of these things but they could. Rolling patches back to when the game was better IS a viable option (and the easiest, quickest solution) to fix the game’s current issues, then they can re-add the things that people actually want (which will be a really short list) once they make sure the short list of wanted changes and additions actually work after significant testing is done to make sure nothing else breaks in the process.
An official rollback to pre-ages or additional option will never happen, that is not how games are developed and progressed. That is loss of work, and creates two tracks. Just look at Siptah and you’ll see how they handle multiple tracks.
Classic servers may privately develop, mods may be made, but a rollback to a not-recent previous state is unheard of. An immediate rollback to the game’s last state in order to go forward again to fix unexpected technical issues? Sure. Some PC MMOs have done that in case of utter technical disaster leading to loss.
A complete redesign and remake upon a failed launch? Very rare but possible. See FFXIV for example.
There’s a reason there are so many privately run servers of varying degrees of population for older MMOs, while the official game stays as it is, progressing further. Attempts have been made by games such as Dark Age of Camelot for example to create servers stuck at a certain ‘classic’ point in time, such things never last for long and that game’s pride point was, and still is the PvP.
Even private servers attempting such things die off for various reasons or end up changing certain things to cater to subdivides of peoples within an already divided community.
The server has an explosive population boom at the start, and it very quickly dies down to a tiny, negligible group of people that were not worth catering to when talking numbers that then start looking for reasons, making out-of-scope demands, and inevitably leaving nonetheless.
I say this as someone who has, and occasionally still does play on ‘Classic Era’ servers for things like DAOC and FFXI when the nostalgia bug bites. It’s fun to start on a new server like that, but generally only the hardened core remains which tends to be much smaller than people would have catered to if they had known.
Then there’s private server owners who will just do it for the heck of it, or are the hardcore ‘era’ gamer themselves. Heck some may even consider it a form of museum of their gaming youth. That is where your best bet of the most trusted and true experience lies, and frankly the only way you will get what you are wanting. I have no idea what the Conan modding scene looks like myself, though.
Arguably, Conan Exiles has even less versatility and potential to be worth rolling back officially. There simply isn’t even near the same kind of replayability, grind, (PvP) progression and niche in the period before mounts and lances, the period before the spear nerf, or when hyenas were legitimately dangerous. Less nostalgia for them to tug on the strings of, too.
The best you can hope for is a mod/private server and very maybe some specific changes for officials you like to see, while the current state of the game largely remains in the current spot.
But, Den already stated in a different post and largely were agreed with that they are going a different route and choose to progress. That is to say; add new things.
So, with all of that said…
it boils down to the topic of renaming the mannequins.
It probably was removed as an option, because people added too many of them. I assume there must have been a concrete reason anyhow.
So while i do agree that renaming them adds value and was fun to see some people get creative with, they may impose other restrictions on them if that option is back on the table.
Maybe having a large amount of renamed objects can start creating issues when done in excessive amounts. Which i’ve certainly seen people have staggering amounts of.
Which would explain why you can’t change the names of things such as notes and journals. Though that could of course also be a simple matter of not being able to change the name of an editable object.
Regardless, i hope they add back the option to rename them without knowing the technical reason it was changed. If somehow the renaming IS related to performance, then i’d honestly like to see a measure to prevent them being placed hand in hand in massive amounts instead.
Don’t bother. People have tried explaining this many times, but he doesn’t care. He just goes spamming every single thread with his request for rollback. The more you try to discuss it with him, the more you help him derail the thread. Flag the off-topic posts instead of feeding the troll.
And with that, let’s get back to the original topic:
I would suggest filing a bug report for this. Without that, I doubt the devs will ever become aware of this issue.
Filing a bug report doesn’t guarantee it’ll be fixed, but if no one files it, then that’s a guarantee that they won’t fix it.
The main issue here is that too many people look at this with tunnel vision instead of seeing the bigger picture and all the options that actually exist.
Never say never. It could happen very easily and it does not have to create two tracks if they don’t want it to. They could simply choose not to further update or change the pre-Sorcery version and provide it “as is” to players. Problem solved. That’s basically what The Fun Pimps and CD Projekt Red have done. Heck, WoW classic was popular, too, right? Why couldn’t that work for CE? I’d buy DLC again if I could easily switch to my preferred version and so would more than a few others but in the game’s current state Funcom get no money from me. They want my money then they know what to do. ![]()
Classic servers could easily be converted from some of the low pop. servers that are out there and the pre-Sorcery build could easily be added to the Steam beta tab. Cyberpunk has a pre-2.0 overhaul build available and 7 Days to Die has a huge number of previous versions in the beta tab for players to enjoy. Why? Because sometimes a massive overhaul makes the game worse for some players and they want to keep enjoying the game in the state it was when they supported it and loved it.
There’s absolutely nothing stopping Funcom from doing the same even if you and others think there is. I bet they could make it happen overnight if they wanted to, it isn’t hard…
Oh, and when all the “work” they’ve done is of poor quality which is the case with CE lately they’re better off going back to what worked than going ahead with something that’s a complete dumpster fire… but it can be hard for people to admit when mistakes were made. I mean the lead dev, that Dennis Douthett, actually posted something that indicated he thought players didn’t need nor used a precise split function and learned the hard way that they do - all the time - so they had to re-implement it.
Even WITH a bug report, they still may not become aware of it.
Well, yeah. That’s kinda what I said:
But maybe it got lost in the spam from the one dude who keeps posting the same off-topic shіt again and again, no matter how many times the mods delete it. ![]()
You said it. Maybe you should get your head out of the “we need a rollback” tunnel and start looking for realistic alternative solutions.
It’s part of the Funcom Four Steps to Game Development:
- If it ain’t broke, break it
- If it still works, see #1
- If players enjoy a mechanic, remove it
- Lecture players that they are all playing an open world sandbox game wrong
