I never experienced this. The nods would always disappear when I hit them with a pick.
Mining crystal with a pick was the first thing I tried back in the EA days. I assumed you would need a pick to pry it from the rock it is imbedded in. It is perfectly logical to think you need a tool to break it free.

It seems that the current options are, pick by hand, harvest rocknoses, loot boxes, getting far enough into sorcery to unlock “Mass Cull”.
Just got 10k crystal in about 30 seconds in the cave using mass cull.
So. yeah… If this was a nerf to crystal farming, i’d say it was a pointless one since mining it by hand would have taken 30-40 minutes for the same ammount

I don’t think Crystal was the reason for the change. Not the sole reason anyway.
It was probably the combination of brimestone (the small chunks you pick up by hand), gold (in Isle of Siptah), wood, branches, and spider egg (gossamer).
We have played different games, apparently.
I have never had to use the move you describe with crystal. Until the change, I mined crystals with any pick/pickaxe/hatchet with zero issue. At times, some resource node in some areas did not despawn, but this was both crystal and gossamer and a rerender would normally solve the issue.
As for the rest of your stance, it is puzzling and I am struggling to see the point. You insinuate a superior knowledge.

I play pve and i don’t care about crystal harvesting.
Crystal is something that a pve player can totally avoid harvesting since it’s visible in many loot bags.
A pve player needs flasks however , but not crystal.
We loot a ton of flasks

Just a hint. Water flasks are heavy, so as soon as you loot them, empty them with the consume button. This way you’ll get hundreds of flasks back home that they won’t weight a lot, since empty flasks stack on 20 and weight just 1.00.
If pvp whines for crystal harvesting… Blame yourself self before anyone else… And you know what i am talking about…

You need to collect it by hand or by sorcery’s harvest spell.
They changed harvesting this summer so that certain materials must be collected by hand. I admit that it makes no sense for crystal to not be harvestable by pick, but shrug
Similarly, it is super-annoying that plant fiber is no longer among the list of things that harvest spell can gather. I wish they changed that back. Plant fiber is part of the T3 materials (needed to create stone consolidant) and harvesting it manually is really really annoying. Especially with the bugged animations that cause motion sickness.

Yeah, we kinda keep running into this. Changes that no one understands, because they don’t leave the game in a state that is more internally consistent and coherent than before. No readily understandable motives, only theories players come up with that are easily countered by the existence of other game mechanics.
Part and parcel of the whole communications problem.

Maybe you could try the vacuum hack. Apparently that is STILL available due to Funcom’s inability to address hacking. I hear it is working wonders on Official Server 1770.
