Haven´t you read the patchnotes?
You can´t harvest crystal with tools. Only by hand or sorcery!

I thought there was a new requirement last year required a higher grade pick. Last week I harvested starmetal dropped during purge with a starmetal pickaxe on PSN server.

No Problem, they change this also with branch and small stones.
Starmetal can you harvest with hardened steel pickaxe or higher tier.

I can still harvest mushrooms with a sickle.
The “by hand” comment should only apply to single items, never nodes.

My friend used the harvest resources spell in the Silvermine on EL yesterday, and it got every resources there EXCEPT crystal. So apparently not even magic can touch it.
Also, if they make it that mushrooms can only be picked up individually by hand, then that is going to have a huge effect on the ability to make gaseous arrows for Purges, making them even more difficult.
Hardened steel pick works

I was in the goblin cave at the noobriver. I have 1,5 stack of crystal in my pocket. Harvesting with sorcery spell works.
