The steam server list does not seem to get any information about the CE servers anymore. But there is some news about a workaround for the connecting now:

We’re aware of a few issues with the server browser pinging functionality that is causing it to report the wrong ping to a server. This interferes with the chances of joining a server where ping should otherwise be within the limits.
