Lui Fei and the Ancient Rhino Horn

On the quest which requires the horn of an ancient rhino. What is the preferred tool for harvesting this? Have tried star metal pickaxe, star metal skinning knife twice each plus an obsidian sickle and no ancient horn. The regular horn drops every time.

Farming the 3 skull Rhino in the oasis between twin shimmering pools near the mitra lady.
