Basic Info:
Platform: Xbox Series X
Issue Type: Other
Game Mode: Online Official
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: 2507 and 7052
Bug Description:
All thralls missing
Bug Reproduction:
Logged into servers and all thralls missing after logging into server. This has happend on two servers, as listed, and one is Exiles and the other Siptah. When server decay was reset after the big server issue of dumping players after logging on, I went to these two servers and every thrall was gone. All structures are still intact and all of my decorations and work benches, everything else still in place. Over 100 thralls collectively between the two servers. Logged off and back on, thralls still missing. Checked followers state in menu and none listed. Also happened to another friend but not certain which servers he was on. Will update if I find out or have him submit report. I see there were some issues about five years ago so I think surely this can’t be related.
I should have titled this “The Mysterious Case of the Missing Thralls” because they are all gone.
Maybe they were abducted by Funcom aliens!?!?
How long had it been since you last logged in (excluding the time when XBox servers could not be accessed)? As far as I know they said they were ‘pausing’ decay timers while the problem went on, but that would not have reset them to full - so if you were close to running out of time before they got paused and then didn’t log in for a bit after the fix was done, that might explain what happened.
Was logging in every day until the server down time. Possibly missed a day but not likely. Even if it had been close to decay before servers went down, all structures, decorations, work benches etc are all still there. Thralls and only thralls were gone on both of the servers listed with no trace at all. Thought maybe a weird glitch so log off and back on but nothing. They didn’t even leave a note!
And as I said in the bug reporting post, another friend had the same thing happen, I’m just not certain about which servers he was on. It just doesn’t make any since at all.
Might have to start believing some kind of AI kidnappers (or thrall-nappers in this case) may have something to do with the disappearances but there hasn’t been any ransom requested as of yet.
Feeling sad about it
and pretty aggravated.
I wasn’t accusing you - simply asking the question so that factor could be eliminated. Building and thrall timers often seem to be slightly separated so the fact that your buildings were intact didn’t necessarily mean the thrall timer hadn’t run out separately. But if you were logging in right up until the servers went down, that shouldn’t be a factor.
Next question would be what do the logs say? Is there any information in there?
Sorry, didn’t mean to sound like you were accusing me of anything…hard to depict any emotions or not… sorry if it sounded as such. Anyhow, on each server every couple of days because I play with different people and they are online at different times and on different servers and that was right up until we couldn’t logon because of that other issue. But defiantly shouldn’t be a timer issue.
Likewise, sorry if I came across as defensive. One of the biggest pitfalls of text-based communication is we lose all the benefits of tone and facial expression, which can easily lead to misunderstandings.
Yeah - I think timers can be eliminated as a possible culprit here. Logs might show something useful - did they all go at once, did DBNO activate in some way, just any factors that might suggest anything.
You’re on XBox, so it’s at least reasonably unlikely you were hacked. I don’t know if you’re on PVP, but even if you were I’d be surprised if someone could kill all your followers and leave the building intact. Similarly, purge griefing seems unlikely (again, I’d expect the building to take some damage, and would be surprised that all the thralls went). I must admit that something weird going on does seem the most logical explanation. (Makes me wonder if it could somehow be related to whatever caused the server lockout in the first place - or perhaps whatever the fix was - but that’s just speculating and ‘correlation does not prove causation’ as the saying goes.)
Agree 100%! I know you along with others are here to actually help others. I have seen your posts frequently.
Both the servers that lost all thralls are PvE.
Log only showed “decayed”. Also, as I write this, I remember, it happened on 2014 with a single thrall as well but this was a couple of weeks before the big outage. 2014 is a EU server and I’m playing from the US and the situation then was I was just starting a character and building so I had workbenches on the ground and not on foundations. I assumed (yes, I know) it had something to do with no foundations and it was only a single thrall and log showed only “decayed” that time as well.
As I write this, I also remember, (on 2014 as well) that I would find several of my thralls assigned to “stand guard” while assigned to a workbench would occasionally start running in place on but staying at the workbench. The single one that decayed did the running in place thing multiple times while I was out farming materials and when I returned to my base it would be running. I would just move it off the bench then put it back on and that solved it for the moment. And on that particular occasion the workbench he was on decayed as well.
So that was odd, but I thought it might be due to no foundations and moved on. I haven’t had any real lag issues playing on the EU server at all. Nothing more that what happens on a US server, which in my opinion says a great deal about the technology today!
I am old enough to remember waiting several hours for a 4MB file to download! hahaha!!
Yeah, I think you are right about the situation on 2014 - from what I understand, no foundations means a much shorter decay timer. (The full ten days (or longer in summer) only applies if you have enough foundations - this is a problem I hear about quite a lot from people putting their transport stones on the ground or only on a couple of t1 foundations - apparently full decay timer requires around 90 t1 foundations, or about 7 t3.)
The running in place thing is odd. I suspect that it probably related to living settlements - they were probably trying to wander off, the way they now do, but you placing them on guard had somehow made them stuck. (Possibly a bonus - if they weren’t stuck, who knows where they might have gone…)
But I don’t believe any of that should apply to your main bases. I would imagine you must easily have had enough foundations for a full timer. And you already established that you were up to date until the lockout. But the logs say ‘decayed’. I wonder if maybe someone failed to stop the thrall decay timers when they paused the building decay. But then I would expect the problem to have affected pretty much everyone on the server. I know you said that a friend on other servers had the same problem - do you know if anyone else on the same servers also had this happen?
I’m old enough to remember loading games from cassette tapes (the same ones we used to have music on…). We used to have to set it to load, and then go away and do something else for 10-20 minutes depending on how ‘advanced’ the game was…
I’m also on server 2507 and I just logged on and the same thing happened to me. Every single one of my thralls are gone. Base is still there but my thralls are not.
Honestly think I might quit Conan. I lost a bunch of stuff when the servers were crashing, and now this, might be time to let the base go and move on to other games.
So it does sound like it could be an error in the way timers were stopped during the lockout.
I lost everything too—on an official PvE server. I’m not actively playing, but I log in every week so I don’t lose my build; today, the base was simply empty and the timer was at zero.
Same, that’s what iv been doing, just logging in every week so I don’t lose my build. But after this I might try to give away my base and stuff to someone on the server and finally clear up some storage, and uninstall Conan.
It does suck tho, iv had my base for well over a year, just keeping it alive in case I ever went back.
Server #2728
Same issue here. Took the forced login break, and when I was able to log in all placed thralls were gone. This is a server wide event. I did notice that unprocessed thralls that are on the wheel are still in there.
Will there be a fix for this? Will they reappear?
