Move pirated save to steam?

I initially played a pirated version, but I’m enjoying this so much I purchased it on Steam.

I’ve searched everywhere online, but I can’t get my old singleplayer save to copy over to Steam. It says “Continue” on the menu, but it just loads up the character creator screen.

Has anyone done this successfully? Help?

I’m going to help you as a thanks for my amusement because I find it hilarious that you’re admitting that you pirated the game on the official forums. What you’re looking for in your pirated install is a database file called “Game.db” that’s where all your saved information is stored. If you bought the steam version, then you need to move it over to this directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved unless you have your steam set up to download somewhere else. I recommend playing online though. If you’re looking for a good server, Pandemonium

Pc is Pc. It has this “freedom” since forever! I don’t remember buying many games when i was playing on Pc. I started playing Conan exiles when i download it for free from Psn. I played for a year before i start buying my first dlc (savage frontier). After this, i cannot recall how much i have spent in this game but i love to do it and i do it. So i am no better from @shutuplaura!
Welcome to the forum fellow exile, stay tuned :metal:.

I’ve tried this, but unfortunately it doesn’t work. I’ve even tried moving the entire “Saved” folder.

If you’re 100% sure taking the game.db from the right location, and moving it to the correct location, then the problem is either because of a version mismatch from the pirated copy of the game and the steam version (unlikely), or a file permission issue and the file you’re trying to move it to may be set to ‘Read-only’. Theoretically I should be able to move your game.db even to my server and could run your save there. Problem may be pebkac.

Turns out it is a version mismatch. I assumed that wouldn’t be an issue, but here we are.

Bummer. Good chance to start over though. Playing with others is more fun anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Patched it, versions are identical…still takes me to the character creation screen. :frowning:

Going to try a clean install on Steam.

That’s a bummer, but yeah… at least you’re playing a legit copy now and you get the joys of starting fresh. This would be a good opportunity to jump to a brand new server or something too. Good luck! :+1:

Make the character and enter admin mode and fly to your base to see if it’s there. It would make sense that it’s putting you to the character creation screen since you’re technically entering the game through a new account.

It’s possible that the game could think you’re a new player joining an existing world because you’re now logging on with a proper FuncomID. The world is likely still there, but the game doesn’t know who you are. You might be able to salvage some stuff by effectively raiding your old base and taking it, but you won’t be able to get your followers back.

They could just install pippi and add their new character to their preexisting clan.

Alternatively they could use this script for editing the DB with a much steeper learning curve: GitHub - A15Bog/conanexilessql: SQLite scripts for Conan Exiles Server Admins

Or just edit the DB directly with a database browser if they’re feeling super ambitious. Not for the faint of heart.
