Yet this will be effecting both pve and pvp. What’s good for one isn’t always good for the other. While this would be good for pvp this would effect the game for pve in a more negative way

So one base per clan is what it sounds like or you wont be able to deffend it , and if u are solo u will also have to stick to one base builds or wont be able to defffend them. And how much better are thralls going to be really? will the new lvl system even work right this sounds like a bad way to do things on the back of mounts that were meant to bring back players

Why have a massive land claim on an official PvE server?
The only valid answer is to have a Gold/Silver Veined Rocknose Farm, cuz those pens are massive.
Otherwise it’s just self validation through others.

Now that you are to make due with a bit less, so others can have a bit more, this is an infraction on your freedom?
Go singleplayer ffs.
Funcom perhaps need to add a way to turn extra combat thralls into “dummies” that can’t fight and/or consume server power, but they can still emote and be able to be clothed and armored.
Then add a way to the interactive wheel so you can turn one of your active thralls to this new “low consumption mode” so people can keep their favorite thralls as decoration, at least.
“Low consumption mode” thralls are simply out of the limit and can’t fight or react to enemies… i.e. have no AI, and can’t follow you around.
Also, not sure if what I’ll say is true or not, as I haven’t seen the stream (and I can’t due to the fact that I’m still at work…) but perhaps new fully leveled-up thralls power level isn’t directly comparable to old ones?
Maybe it’ll be set up in such a way that you’ll need less thralls to defend the same area? I.e. by perhaps increasing the AI aggro range and/or reactivity?
The same can be said to PVE’ers….since my original post was concerning PVP.
Cant handle the lag of other players bases? Go single player.
I do play single-player, after 1 and a half year of being in hell AKA official servers.
I’m just glad Funcom acknowledges why, and are making adjustments.
Yeah easy fix for that, that we used to have. Allow us to pick up thralls and return them to your inventory.
Place them during raids and purges. Pick up after.
Then why are you in this discussion since you play single player? This change has absolutely zero impact on you, or your gameplay.
If people think this will stop the lag, they are greatly mistaken. If we have no defences like thralls and pets, and like I mentioned above…ill just add 40,000 pieces to my base for defence. One way or another, I will find a way to keep my stuff safe.
That’s a good solution FC won’t do. It worked wonders on ARK with the cryopods.
Because I want to start new on another official server soon. (Why? Because CE is fun when you can’t cheat. Feels more legit)
That’s why. I’m only playing singleplayer cuz I can’t take poeple’s lack of self discipline.
Funcom’s changes will take care of that symptom of desperate self-validation by others through over-expansion.
During my time on PvE, my friends and I were RPing. I built a nice fortress and a huge wall for RP purpose. Didn’t care about what people would think about it, I was just happy with my work. We also where in a corner of the map where there was nothing of interest and my walls had fences, but not T3 ones so that people would still climb. I had 0 animals pens cause i didn’t care at all. I wasn’t rich, I farmed alone most of the time. I didn’t need to show my work to others, I just wanted to build something pretty to be proud of myself. And don’t say that people couldn’t do anything cause I had three friendly neighbours right outside my home (and be sure that it was half of the server ) I had 0 performance issues and nobody complained, never. I understand that it can be seen as a “show off”, but it was just my first time on the game and i tested things out, it had nothing to do with “self-validation”.
Do dancer thralls and Bearer thralls count to that number? this will also kill any kinda of farming / ranching wont use a thrall spot on a deer or and animal for estatics. no more rocknose farms. so we never got a real farming system and now u are cutttig back on pets. and mounts will count to that number so one mount per clam member lol and i will never use a pack animal again. So Funcom just took away a major reson alot of players stay playing! Good job lol I agree there needs to be limits but maybe do on a per style. like unlimited station thralls 20 dancers 40 fighters and 40 archers 20 to 30 pets something lkie that
Im assuming you mean your going to an official PVE server…in which case, make this an option for servers then. In PVP we need defences. PVE you don’t…so put the thrall limit on PVE and test it that way.
For the first time you are going to feel defenceless in PvP. You finally get to have a challenge again. You don’t like it, why play PvP?
So again then, this change is solely to help low end PC’s and consoles…and maybe solo players.
It limits those that can invest the time in the game to have the set up they want.
Remember, I wont be defenceless, Im adding 40,000 parts to my base…because the 90 thrall cap for the 8 of us in the clan means my share will be 11 thralls. 11 thralls to defend my base. Total BS.
Yep, exactly. There would be no room for fun, RP-themed sites like taverns, brothels, zoos, etc. on Official servers any more. Considering they just released an RP-themed DLC it’s hard to fathom how such an unreasonably severe reduction could be a serious plan.
Yeah, that’s one of the questions I posed in the Q&A thread. I’d rather take the save file, rent a private server and continue playing with my friends than see the community I’ve helped to foster thru public works and a pay-it-forward attitude be suddenly destroyed. There’s a reason why the server I play on is so popular, and it’s because we alphas have cultivated a healthy sense of community.
What good are more efficient servers if all the people who have been among the most avid and dedicated players are driven away because all their efforts have been destroyed? I mean yeah a ghost-town server will run well, but then who’s having fun? Who’s creating a story they’ll retell?
You enjoyed the PvE aspect of the game, without facing any limiting factors. Your intention was just to have fun, not really to seek validation through others. That’s cool man.
Innocent fun is fine, as long as one doesn’t oppose limiting factors being implemented to regulate it’s side-effects.
And what you did is perfectly fine because you had ONE large land claim… and not like, owning half the danm map with several provinces worth of structures.
You know the wise phrase: “Keep everything in moderation.”
I think it’s perfectly fair for Funcom to stop people from over-indulging at the expense of the ecology.
On the other hand, considering one needs only 3 thralls with steel truncheons to defend a purge, I don’t see this having much effect on PvE over-expansion.
It’s gonna hit PvP the hardest i think, considering they actually have to do PvP now, and not just attrition-■■■■-blocking.
once again the devs are looking for a band aid to fix there issues instead of fixing lag there making a quick fix just like the did with 1 hit annihilator sword sunday i 1 hit a guy that was in heavy and i had 35 strength with my telith sarrow but that wont get nerf because devs just want a quick fix instead of putting time into there games issues but they will release new dlcs instead of fixing issues
I seem to recall a server similar to the one in your name where a clan of dupers built one with far more then that, yes.
