What is your RP solution to the Living Settlement bumps in the road that we have faced since the introduction of the Age of Heroes?
I’ll go first. At The Will of Crom RP/PVP, we have elected to go with the rather simple answer that the artisans and workers of the Exiled Lands are unionizing. And they have been striking. Some scabs wander about. Partially dressed. And sometimes ending up at the 0,0,0 vortex. But the majority of our thralls are on strike. And we are desperately awaiting their union to arrive at an amenable solution (Funcom issuing a hotfix / warmfix / patch to correct).
How are the rest of the RP realms explaning the recent phenomena in-game?
I leave you with a sad little image of Willem “Chip” Teghue, forced to do the work of his striking staff:
As I’ve switched Living settlements off, my crafters are behaving as they did prior to the update, except now they’re all dressed and armed in gear that matches my combat thralls. Figure their long work shifts are courtesy of my demonic sorcerer ‘motivating’ them. As for sleeping and eating, they can do that when I’m away from my base or offline.
NPCs are NPCs. They are just unnamed background characters who don’t have any stories or backgrounds of their own. When playing on a more vanilla themed server the only characters that have any significance are Conan, Ramza, and the late Mek-kamoses.
Thralls are thralls. Nothing more. If they go missing there are dozens to replace them. In RP their disappearance from gameplay, glitches, or whatever is not noticed.
I personally only RP with players. If I was admin (and modder) on the servers I play on, I would replace the crafters with player recipes and get rid of the whole thrall mechanics, it’s too poorly done and the AI is just awful (which in general makes the pve horrible too).
In CE there is no difference between a skeleton, a spider and a computer controlled human. So, I treat them the same. It’s just background stuff while I RP with players.
