At the end of the Sunken City, after defeating the Ritual boss, the big fish says his lines, but there’s nothing to do. If he’s supposed to attack, he’s not. And there’s no way to climb back out. I’ve searched around the room several times to look for something to ‘activate’ but found nothing. How does this end?
Arrows pass through the fish (no damage).
Blades are ignored by the fish (no damage).
Can’t go through the wall of water.
Can’t climb out of the shaft through which I entered.
Fish just says his lines over and over again, peering through the water wall and then back into the water.
And after not being able to find what I’m supposed to do, everyone eventually respawns again.
My only option seems to be to die to get out of here. (remove bracelet)
(excellent dungeon design, by the way - very nice artwork, too)
EDIT: Okay, the side portals opened on the second respawn. Got it now. So, I would recommend that the side portals stay open (and might want to check to make sure they are opening as intended because the first time around, I don’t think they opened at all).
Have to redo it it to figure out really if i missed something.
I was also bit perplexed by the fish apparition, and the ghosty graphic stuff going on.
Then this remember me bit the story from the Tower of the Elephant.
I think we have to save him, deliver him, but yes, what and how ?
He was fading then for me. Then came back after a while.
But i must admit it was a bit of a first day rush, and i will have to return to it to take a closer look again.
Lot to test everywhere, and i’m quickly distracted.
After my trip in the volcano, i went to the jungle to take a new look at the underwater dungeon.
My goal was to check out the last room with the Ritual Keeper and the big fish. Also the glitch or very strange texture effect was strange in my previous run.
Again, the textures looked very weird to me.
While i think the devs tried to achieve some effect here, it looks really strange and glitched to me.
It’s like a transparent overlay put over all textures, and full dungeon. When i move my cam, the transparent overlay move with the cam, at some spots especially.
You have never played a Lovecraftian game, I guess? This disturbing effects are the result of your insignificant human mind not being able to comprehend the presents of a Deep Ones will. You are facing the cruel truth behind the soft surface you call reality which breaks your sanity if exposed for to long.
Excellent explanation Ryu-Salazar. If this ends up being their go to explanation I hope they give people not as well versed with Lovecraftian stuff a bit of backstory to understand.
But yes Vattende, I too have experienced this ghost shader 3D effect. I think it is a bug. Just have not reported it yet as I am too busy building my Necromancer tower and creating undead minions! I have only visited the sunken city once, and thought it might just be on my side? Glad you confirmed this. Good work.
I think is all two, and a wanted effect, and combination with a glicth.
Only the devs could tell us.
But yes, i agree fully with the lofcraftien feeling, and the stories behind.
It’s mostly a mixt of different part of stories for me, here also a lil feeling Tower of Elephantç to me.
Then, i feel a big preparation in the volcano to, but that’s maybe only me, who knows.
Yeah, I think its a matter of tast but it fits the theme in my opinion. I had once the semi-transparent gaze of this giant fish imprinted on my screen while I was moving through its chamber. That was somekind cool. But it could be mistaken as a bug. Instead of removing it, I would suggest to add some kind of sound like panting of your character of stress or disturbing voices or other sounds to make it more clear it is intended and you are suffering form something supernatural.
Completely agree, yes while i think it’s a wanted effect, it’s not very clear.
Also once you know, and are looking outside the room when approaching, there are spots where the effect is overlaping.
Like said, nothing gamebreaking for me, but yes sounds, or an effect that we would more identifie with some spooky thing going on would be cool. I love the idea !
Yes, effect coming and fading this with a sound, a slight corruption when you enter the last room and approach the ritualist, then if you beat her, a small status effect, buff or else could be cool.
