When I put my thrall or pet on follow and then try to set it to stand guard somewhere, it bug out and says the error “Must be placed on walkable floor”, even tho it looks like I could have set it…
They need a bit more space around them now. Could it be that you were trying to place it too close to some vertical surface (wall, fence, rock, etc.) or something like sloped roof?
Can confirm that this behavior is occurring and it’s not because other thralls are too close. That situation generates a different message and I’ve seen this when no other thrall is nearby.
Also, in at least some cases, when this error occurs with foundations or ceiling tiles, the error state is permanent and i cannot place minions on that building piece even after multiple server restarts.
Only reason I didn’t bug it myself is I was pretty sure someone else already had.
Confirmed. Official server, Siptah map. I’ll get “must be placed on walkable floor” on the flat ground outside my base (and not close to the base or any placeables), but not on a steep slope in the vicinity. 
I can try to repro it later today and post some screenshots.
