Unable to repair hardened sword even with knowledge (can build a new one, but can't fix it)

Thank you for taking the time to report this situation.

In terms of the Option to fix the sword, does the “Repair” button show up if you press “More” when the weapon is unequipped?

Also, does this happen if there are no mods running?

Had the same issue.

Workaround:

Take the thrall out and put it back in.

This corrected it for me.
