The problem with this line of thinking is that every guilty party thinks they’re the one innocent wrongfully persecuted. It’s easier to deny guilt and buy in to the fantasy of being wrongfully punished than it is to accept being wrong.

Most of the recurring voices on this issue, including our dear OP would fall into this category, I’d wager. If it was a wrongful ban, it would have only been once. But to get permanently banned, there has to be a recurring severe issue. One that they would pretend isn’t a problem, and instead a flaw of the system unfairly punishing them.

Fair and I don’t like it either but the fact remains that in any type of enforcement of the rules you have margins of error. The question is do you keep in the middle and get some false positives and negatives, lean one way and get no false negatives but more false positives, or lean the other way and get more false negatives and no false positives.

The largest root cause is still unanswered and that is what FC believes player interactions need to be. I have been very vocal about the PVP aspect in that FC needs to actually put out what they intended PVP to mean in the realm of this game but, in all reality, all aspects of online play should have some measure of intent and expectations from the game designers. However it has been more akin of deer in headlights when asked. This leads me to a product that is actually pretty decent but with little to no understanding how it should play out in the online interactions and therefore left it up to the server admin to determine. That’s all fine and dandy except for official servers where FC are the admin. Then these sorts of things have to be spelled out just like a private server admin would.

This is a fair point.

My 2 week ban in 11/2021 was 100% justified. I patently refused to update my 3+ year old builds in hopes that I would delete enough to avoid getting reported.

The core issue, in my less than humble opinion, remains a fuzzy ToS and a system that both relies on reports to spur review and admits that it can’t respond to all the reports.

If the build system is being abused, and it is, there needs to be a programmatic solution. Just as I can’t hold a torch and a bindings at the same time, if the game refuses to let me connect more than 5K building pieces, then the argument is moot.

But it doesn’t. Spam building is still rampant and is never addressed until a report is made and taken up in the queue. It’s a flawed system and pasting more pieces on top of it has not helped resolve the situation.

Similar to me. When the ToC was revamped back in late summer/early fall 2021 I was suspended for 3 days for blocking passage. 100% justified.

The difference in then and summer 2022 for my second suspension, I received an explanation. It helped to shape how I behaved on official servers. It made sense. I accepted and did better. Oh and the reason I was first suspended is still not described in their rules.

Your level of aggression towards me and some others is not only unwarranted but says more about you then me.
Only one of us is starting to call names…

The irony is that pvp players get blamed for toxicity, but pve players are just as able.

Back to the post though without clear rules the ban list goes up and up, people shouldnt be getting bans with no warning for building.

Repeat offenders after warning then eventually yes, but without knowing what they did in the first place how are they to avoid making the same mistakes?

Sure, you keep telling yourself that. See my above point about living in a fantasy of self-percieved innocence.

By reading and following the TOS instead of trying to find loopholes and arguing specifics to create more loopholes. Works for the rest of us. People who don’t get banned don’t come in here screaming as loud as the people who do, so your perception on how many people are banned is highly skewed.

Not entirely sure this is proving a point the way you think it is.

I can garauntee you, if the same level of adjudication was used in all pve and pvp servers the results would be different.

And do you have any proof there isn’t? Or are you just assuming because pvpers are the loudest complainers they’re the most persecuted?

Yeah thats a flat no.

Been around since since beta and never been banned. From ANY game actually because i dont act like an ass that violates community standards. Yknow the TOS that nobody reads and think just because they buy the game they own it- you dont own it and need to follow the rules about public servers.

Pleading ignorance isnt an excuse since you can literally take the game apart in single player and know where everything is. “Well a world boss spawns here so i better not build there.” Or “this is large source of brimstone i better not block it” and so on.

All the proof i need can be found logging in to an average pve official server and simply turning camera around.
Then do the same with a pvp official server.

If your seriously telling me that pve servers arnt littered with gigantic bases that would simply be deleted of pvp then…not much more i can say if you cant see with your own eyes

I’d like you to supply some photographic evidence to back that up, and include server numbers so I can go ahead and report any that are in violation of TOS. If there’s people getting away with rulebreaking, it’s only fair to the other rulebreakers like yourself they get dealt with as well.

As stated higher up.

If you want to go take a look and get more builders banned from official go for it, easy enough to see.

Ill not report them until a warning comes in.
