Bug Reproduction:

known bug

Due to a known glitch I lost the following thralls

Dafari Witch Doctor

Conall the Hammer

Merkel the Edgesmith

Kambujan Armorer III

Honestly not too bothered with the last but the smiths really hurt to lose. and it sucks having to just replace them regularly. this is a known issue and desperately needs fixed for the game to continue.

find yourself some spare thralls, as many as you can, because with this wonderful living settlement idea they have blown a huge hole in the water that to confront Mr. Moses still gnaws when he looks at the red sea

oh I have been. just you would think this is a key thing for them to fix and in the meantime do some bandaid fixes for to keep up retention stuff. have a way for admins to take and be able to pass out basic versions of the lost thralls or something when they are lost.

Living Settlements have been disabled as of server restarts today. So this means you won’t see any more crafter thrall deaths due to this while it is in this state/disabled.

They have made adjustments to the Living Settlements each update since it was being tested on Beta pre-AoH. So I would say it is on their key things to fix, but, for whatever reason it is just broken AF.

Try putting them in a room with no doors and put them all on passive I have not lost one in like 3 weeks PVP official server

Even if they disabled them today, it’s now what? six months? eight? I don’t remember how long it was active but I remember every T4 worker lost because of this crap.

And for sure because Bugcom disabled the option from the official servers today I will NOT deposit a single T4 on the ground only to see it disappear, die,pulverize, nuclearize when they reactivate the living settlement option.

This is what I’m unironically praying for. I’m scouring the modkit trying to understand if i can make it like it was before. I don’t want living settlements fixed, I want it gone. it’s another addition to the game that doesnt add but rather takes away. Not being able to take others thralls, and requiring only one high tier thrall per profession, not even taking how buggy it is into consideration, it’s just an extremely bad implementation.

I’m genuinely wondering what people even do aside from ERP in this game anymore.

I get that it could be cool if you only play singleplayer/pve servers but living settlements just is terrible for pvp. unless they could make it so you need 1 thrall per station(not station type) and and they magically became converted thrall items upon being killed.

I disagree entirely. I exclusively play single player and I want Living Settlements gone as much as you do. It has been entirely negative in its impact for me as well - please don’t assume that just because we don’t PVP that means we must like Living Settlements. I would much rather have my base actually seem alive with thralls working on benches, rather than having to collect unnecessary fighters etc just to get someone to act like they are doing something on a bench while the actual workers all go and hide in the same corner where they can stand on each others heads.

Nothing about Living Settlements has had any positive impact on my game experience at all, it has been entirely negative. If you are ever successful in coming up with a mod that removes this unwanted system entirely, please publicise it here loudly - I will be one of the first to subscribe.

It has been entirely negative for us because it’s broken.
I, on the contrary, do like the idea of thralls walking around and doing various things. I don’t enjoy a slave factory.

However, having more control over them would be good.
For example some sort of global command you can issue that tells all your workers to go to their respective stations, or to their guard positions (which they don’t have currently).
Also if you want a worker to just stay put like a fighter thrall, that should be an option.
And if you want to craft something with a thrall bonus and the specific thrall is not at the respective station at the moment, you should be able to call them to that station, so it actually looks like the master armorer is making your new piece.

I would even make it somewhat punishing if you make your thralls work 24/7 without letting them eat or sleep. They’d start underperforming.
But all this can only apply if the actual core of LS is fixed. Which might never happen.

yeah I like the idea of living settlements but the bugs are just horrible. and like mentioned I lost several named thralls and a random t3. also lost a t2 to it on another server a few weeks ago as well. hopefully this stuff with the semi turned off thing they are doing now works until they can fix it properly. I would like it if they would replace the lost ones when they die from the bug.

Ya I think I’d wait a week or two, monitor the bug reports and see what happens.

I frankly haven’t had the opportunity to see any of it in action, every time I attempt a playthrough I run into hackers so I disassemble and popcorn.

I don’t know what to feel yet about this.

if you’re feeling bored you could try my mod out, same one i was working on last year but now it’s essentially completed. only need to see if making weather matter again is possible. sadly living settlements seems like it would be extremely tough to remove.
