Let’s just call it what it is…grieving the server. This isn’t building this is living scared of loosing stuff because ‘you can’t pvp without it’
Folks that build like these are the same ones that that also have a holier than though approach to the game and call others wusses for not able to PvP.
They also fail to understand the irony of this when it’s pointed out.
This upsets me by a lot.
Does this kind of player/clan has no brain? Or at least common sense? It’s like a big family dinner and somebody vomits on the table and continues eating, while the others can’t proceed to eat. And the staff throws it out of the building, and it is surprised and starts whining what did it do.
This kind of behavior should be punished hard. It is not an accidental mistake, it is intentionally preventing all of the others fom playing. No access to ANY of the servers in Conan Exiles anymore. Perma-ban.
(Literally, I left nicer looking thing in the toilet this morning!! )
And this: how can it be described as epic? And pro player? Pro PVPer? it is boring indeed, pointless, cheap, d*ckhead behavior. A true shame some “people” enjoy this.
Someone called an other player bad names? Wrote something on a sign? People can move on, still can play. But this is straight up preventing others from playing the game they paid for.
S9 to better point out the original topic of this post, pvpers should not have to clean this up. Now if you have a 10x10 base, even a wall around that, i wouldnt call that clean up. When i raid, i am not going for a wipe. I am cutting thru to the sweet middle. So i take on how much i am willing to spend bomb wise to get there. But to clean up s0am, i am not going to do that. And responding on every every over build ban thread that i should is not reality.
Thank you @CodeMage for understanding the difference.
Because it gets them a win and that is what they think the game is all about. What modern gaming has not done well is the point of games in general was a time waster to have fun with. If you are playing with others, then it’s group fun. Now if we were playing a game like…say Monopoly. If someone is playing in a manner that just isn’t fun for the rest of the players but this player is winning, those players would just kick him out of the game and continue playing. The exited player would mumble about all of those players not understanding the game and put out there that Monopoly is a dead game anyways and the group is shrinking and who needs them anyways…blah blah blah. Sound familiar?
In a board game, we think nothing about this type of interaction and encourage it. Hopefully the exited player learns something about the main purpose of a game. It’s only when we get into larger MMO’s that we step back from this…why? If the core understanding of games hasn’t changed, then fun should trump “winning” each and every time but because we have seen a decline in family game nights or other social gaming that teaches this basic concept, the gaming community has gotten more…dickish.
Now we enter Conan…a game that prides itself on harsh realities of a cruel fantasy world…mix that with the current moralities of MMO’s and add a pinch of 2-3 years of neglect from administrative authorities to enforce or even define accepted behaviors and you got the current state of Conan.
Is it salvageable? I wouldn’t be playing if it wasn’t. There is a bunch of folks on here that are trying to work with FC to keep the game active and growing. At this time, it’s stagnant in player levels…which is neither good or bad but growth in needed for continued support. I see FC looking through these posts…through youtube critiques and seeing them taking suggestions. What i hope is going on is that they are hitting both new content (3.0 and DLC) AND listening to customers. I see this happening and still encourage their teams to continue it. I accept delays in new content to fix older issues. Businesses that actually want to maintain relevence do this type of thing. Companies willing to just get a quick buck take the approach of 5 year life spans and push new content over fixing bad stuff. I have seen FC change and become more insync with the player bases and am hopeful the changes will work and bring in/back players that we all can have fun with…vs hide from.
I cant like this post enough. It is rooted in a step back overall view with as little humanly bias as possible. I agree 100% with your perspective on the root cause. And this coming from a person who argues with you more often than not;) But i also know you come from a place of wanting CE to succed for as long as possible.
Because it’s freaking KEWL. Seriously I have never played a game so in-depth and with the graphics and flexibility that is Conan. I’m sad I didn’t get on the bandwagon when it launched and literally had to have it shoved in my face as a PS Plus game.
Yeah we have had our back and forths but seriously it’s fun to debate stuff you are passionate about. I tried to stay objective and I can always count on people, like yourself, to keep me honest and respectful to others…because I’m a freaking squirrel on acid some days.
