Decay rates are based on the amount of pieces placed. Summer timers raise the cap but you still need enough pieces to get to the higher cap. If you built with just barely enough pieces to max out at the normal decay rate of 168hrs having a higher cap won’t change anything for you. Try placing more pieces and watch your timer increase.
I cannot remember well but I think you need on tier 1 more than 85 building pieces to get the full decay rates! I am not sure if this happened to a better guidance of purges. I remember people were complaining that they had purge to a small outpost and not to main base. If you change tier to these pieces you’ll get better decay timers for sure, yet what bugs me is something else here. What about the purge? Building in places that there is no access for purge to come at the end the purge will spawn in your base and that’s certain my friend. I do understand the beauty of having a build that high but I fear that you ain’t going to enjoy it a lot. Nobody likes purge in house .
Your choice however.
Yeah, this is one of those fun things the game doesn’t explain very well. Click here if you want to read the wall of text I wrote the last time people asked about it, I went into a bunch of details there. If you just want a short explanation, keep reading here.
The game calculates the decay time for your base from the number of interconnected pieces and their tier. If that time is longer than the server-wide maximum, it gets capped to that. Normally, the cap is at 168. The decay time for your base is 170, which then gets lowered to 168 because of the server settings.
However, during the summer holidays, the server cap is doubled. That doesn’t mean all decay times are doubled, just the server-wide maximum. Since your base’s decay time is 170, and that’s lower than 336 (168x2), you get to see 170 even though it was 168 before.
