Game mode: Online official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvE-Conflict
Region: US
While fighting the Abysmal Remnant, there is a chance that blocking its attack with a shield will result in an interrupted animation that leaves the Remnant skewed instead of upright. If that happens, the “belly-flop” attack will result in the Remnant either diving under the floor or floating above it.
In both cases, it is impossible to actually hit the Remnant with a melee attack, because the client won’t send anything to the server unless the player can actually strike the client-side hitbox. The server maintains the Remnant in the correct position, because the player cannot walk through the area where the Remnant should be – the player keeps getting thrown back by the server, similar to trying to walk through a door that hasn’t been loaded on the client.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
- Approach the Remnant with a one-handed weapon and a shield, while blocking.
- Enter the Remnant’s melee distance and let it attack you.
- Observe the attacks. If one of them is cut short during the block, pay attention to the Remnant’s orientation.
- Wait for the belly-flop attack. If the Remnant was skewed, it will either dive under the floor or float above it.
- Try to hit the Remnant and notice that you can’t damage it.
- Try to walk through the space where the Remnant should actually be and notice you cannot pass through.
