The bug is that the boss ignores you? Did you try shooting it with your bow to gain it’s attention?
I do confirm that the boss act weird from times to times, but it’s years that this boss wasn’t working properly. Now it works “ok” compared the years passed.

I had it floating up in the air somewhat recently as well… I tried shooting it with explosive arrows… no luck.
