Age of Heroes - Chapter 1 Q&A

While I enjoy the companion idea, the living settlement thing sounds awful to say the least and on top of me not enjoying the whole concept, i fear it is going to be another performance killer, like the tavern.
On top of that, where are the fixes for sinking into foundations and the inventory?
The latter not even being mentioned anymore.
Other things that were promised in the past just withered away, like:

  • The tavern as a quest and trade hub
  • Alliances
  • transfers between exiled lands and Siptah
    …nothing.
    instead we get this probably hot mess of Age of Dennis

its awefull , as it removes something that has not caused problems since launch, to add something that has no practical value, just to justify a crafter to go pee and eat and sleep, it will have a performance issue.

tavern has all the problems that has been reported, since it introduction, and it is not been fixed, the flying thralls, and pathing issues will be the next thing introduced …

they could have set up new emotes for guards, and perromers and bearers, to the same effect of introducin life to the settlement,. they could have given some form of variety to the emotes of the thralls in benches . to add some ramdoness, and provide more life.

they could have added a way to change clothes to inventory thralls if they wanted to.

instead we are getting a restrictive system that you as a player has no control, funcom said, that they will priotize their needs over the emotes or commands you give them, so how exactly is that a good thing?

add to that : they will take a limited spot on the thralls you can deploy,. so you will have mediocre thralls at defence or offence, that can go walk and pee, that is why i have fighters deployed, to defend if needed,

aside the cosmetic aspect this change goes against player freedom, restricts the player even more, and messes with a system that it barely had any problems, i cant understand funcom wish to break more things, because this update will BREAK new things.

ideally i would have love to have both system on, and i as a player decide if i want the new or the old or a mix of the two, as mentioned over and over again, i will applaud the introduction of more options to the playes, but i will criticize heavily anything that restrict the player, is this game supposed to be a sandbox? it looks like we are slowly loosing that.

dennis said they did not want to have players change the way they play their game, and funny enough what they are doing is changing fundamentally how the game will play

i pity the people using consoles, as this is most likely to be harder on them than it is for pc.

i can have in my base 40 crafters thralls bringing life to my settlement, (with their benches) now i will have 10 to 20 thralls , and i will be limited to not being able to have thralls in outposts we have biuld , or some of our clan members will not have crafters at all, because the limit is too small for crafters and fighters in a 10 man clan.

another broken promise… i cant hire more than the same mercenary captain . no quest. but hey we got flying thralls, duplicate thralls, and it looks like it is also the cause of the things falling thru building pieces.

promised we wil get news, they have kept silent, and ignored many questions at their streams for the last 2 + years,

i feel the same way. exactly as you do. allow me to add that i am starting to believe , dennis might have got the simms sindrome XD (personal joke here, not an attack ).

Oh it appears that is not so much funcom making promises then not following though, as funcom implying something then taking fours year to execute it poorly.

I’m not buying any of it. I put most of these new updates in the same pile as the personal light. Not something any one actually requested, and we can’t get an off switch for even though a good portion of us have made know we don’t like it.
I still get this weird strobing effect going in and out of cave. Like the light can’t make up it’s mind.

Since they dropped that age of sorcery the majority of what has been added in the updates falls in to 2 categories
1: Something funcom hinted at ages ago and most people have forgotten about. And I think sorcery would go on that list.
2: things no one asked for or want.

But it seems the most important one is forgotten about, what we want. Since it appears this game is being developed for one particular person, maybe they should be paying for the development and not have us paying for the game they want?

They dryers bench. Not one wanted the change, no one asked for the change, most every one railed against it, so what does funcom do? Adds a new emote so your dying sorcerer looks busy.

That is a prefect example of how this game is being developed.

And yes we did more then gripe about it, we gave several viable options to improve it and make us players happy. Mine was make the dyers bench like the rest of the benches; T1, T2, and T3. What we have now would be T3.

T1 would be 1 bucket and a rack. 6 slots for dyes, you can’t make any but the very basic dyes; and not with out a thrall, no paints or war paint.

Now we are getting lively villages, like NPC AI doesn’t suck and lag the server bad enough all ready.

So the breaks in the car are going bad, what do you do? If you’re funcom you add another half ton to the car, put another 20lbs of air to the tires, and take of the air filter to add more horse power.

I have a simple question. When is funcom going to start taking it’s long term core players seriously?

Okay look, we need a door locking system. Because i dont want my workers sleeping in my personal bedroom where i log off at.

We should have had a door locking mechanism based on clan ranks years ago. So you can lock areas off in your base.

Now with thralls opening doors? Great. Im gonna have my main door opened all the time because i have my shrines and wheelhouse outside and my taskmaster is gonna want to come inside to take a shit whenever he wants.

TLDR; Let us lock doors. Or let us lock doors for thralls to use.

It doesnt mean they will any time soon. And it wont be at launch.

This is funcom, theres a ton of forgotten things they said theyll fix and havent.

Server transfers to siptah still being disabled yet the website still mentions it being a advertised feature.

funcom is forcing people into this change, when people asked settlement features, no one asked it to be forced into everyone. as said many times, cosmetic thigns should always be optional.

we still got inventory issues, that has not been resolved, there is however a few things i welcome on that change, but its still not working well. the dyers bench is a disaster, i do not see them removing the functionality , even when there is (apparently) NOT A SINGLE soul, apreciating that change.

they are messing with a system that works, if they were to add the ability to deploy crafters and for them to behave as they promoted without forcing people to change how we have been playing in our bases. then i will be totally ok, you dont like the feature in YOUR settlement you dont use it. you love it? you can use it if you want. that is called OPTIONS., and those should always be on people hands. i would be loving the feature if it was not FORCED on everyone. giving both options , will please the most ammount of players. the feature came buggy and you cant have more than one working well? then you adpat and use the one.

they should start making pools to catch the temperature of certain game changing features,. because right now, i do think they already changed the way the benches works, to accomodate this new feature.

i could bet real money that the AI being how stupid it is, will cause issues, uncalled issues. as this was working without issues (old system).

there seems to be certain degree of work left incomplete. two examples.

i remember when they spend time revamping the camps an areas int he exile lands, they did some, but left the ice area untouched. no revamp there., that is almost an entire biome with nothing important to do.

not so long ago, added the tavern system, they promised a quest hub from there. (have you seen any quests? any interesting characters offering good quests or rewards ? no. tavern system has plenty of AI issues left unresolved.

its a fact, its been forced.

do you have the chance to still use the old system or you dont? according to what i have seen ., there is no option to use the old one., so in this case it is forced on everyone. you cant choose.

it is hard to imagine such concept is difficullt to understand.

no, you wrong, it says., on one asked, what has to do the no one asked, it to be forced into everyone? is that phrase wrong? people asked some settlement stuff., no one asked how it is being implemented, (loosing thrall counts,. to have crafters you cant control etc).

according to whom, now who is spekaking for “a lot of people” now?

we lost that control when i cant decide if i want to deploy my crafters or leave them in their benches. you do undersstand they could have achieved the same with the thralls arealdy deployed without touching crafters?
