Age of Heros Chapter 1 - Release Date - Communications Discussion

Dearest Funcom,

Specifically, @den @AndyB @Community

The last published detail about the Age of Heros Chapter 1 release stated that it was scheduled for “October.” It is now October. Can you now please provide an update to the release timeframe so that your player community will know what to expect, and when?

The Funcom efforts at increasing their communication with the community have been recently bolstered - I am pretty sure that the entire player community can agree that the little bit of comms have gone a long way. However, it seems that things have begun to slip, and die off again. If you are serious about a committment to communications - you’ve got to live it. You’ve got to breathe it. Now would be an EXCELLENT time for a Developer Livestream. But maybe this time with LESS TEASE, and more ANSWERING OF PRESSING QUESTIONS.

There have been very vocal concerns from those who have participated in the Public Beta (Imma still call it TestLive). There are concerns about the “lively” thralls disappearing and going totally missing within an hour of them being set. There are concerns about thralls disappearing all together, some to the mysterious vortex in the highlands at the coordinates 0,0,0. Could you weigh in, and address some of those concerns please? Which issues are you actively working on? Which issues are going to just be an “oh well” that your player community will simply have to deal with?

Speaking of “OH WELL” - there are a number of still GAME-BREAKING bugs that we have asked over and over again to get your attention on. Players want to know why their thralls keep decaying when you jack around with the decay timers each summer. Can we get some engagement and discussion on that? What about falling through foundations? Is this something that you are actively working to correct? Is this something that has taken a serious back burner? OR - is this something that players are just going to have to accept as an “OH WELL” for the remainder of the game property’s lifetime because you aren’t willing to schedule or prioritize work to fix it?

You’ve got to come and speak to us. I know it’s hard. But anything worth doing takes a little bit of hard work every now and again. Please instruct your people who are supposed to be interacting and participating with the community to do so. Perhaps instead of "oooh, ahhh"ing over some purple gassy tenticled horror.

I want you to succeed, Funcom. I want you to win. But more than that - I want the player community to win. And if you care to glance at the scorecard - we’ve been losing for a hot minute now.

Sincerely,
Cauthey

I’m really damn curious to see whether any of these (in my opinion very important) topics will finally get an official answer. It’s starting to get ridiculous again!

Still currently September in Australia and the US. Funcom might say something once the rest of the world hits October. If I had to guess release date? One to two weeks, probably on a Wednesday night (for Australia)

If this was a cake in the oven only the parts touching the pan would be cooked anyway.

Well I will have to agree with everyone. Dropped in to see if anyone has a release date so I guess the answer is no. They are working on the thrall disapearing issue in test live. I only know that because they asked me for more info. I do hope that gets resolved soon.

More like the pan is in the oven, burning up.

And the cake batter is smoking into carbon down beneath on the heating element.

Kiritimati and Auckland are ahead of the Australian east coast by a few hours. Can’t think of anywhere else. Not October in those areas according to the world clock

How bout it? How about a LiveStream this week?

Can’t wait for the patch to swim through the floor and find my living settlement deserted
I’ve been waiting for a while now, i’m sure it’s close.

That has yet to happen to me. No issues being burred on log in.

Thralls on the other hand

I’m going to recommend not worrying about. It takes nothig to brake it and be right back to thralls at benches. But hey, I know being able to fill your benches with nude, busty blonds is going to make some one happy

Well, I mean, when life gives you lemons…

I’m not angry, or even disappointed, any longer.

This is the state of the game and the development and support team.

Since they do not play the game on regular settings, they do not experience the game breaking issues.

Things I have learned since the Ages began:

  1. If it ain’t broke, break it. (Inventory, Dyebench)
  2. If it works, see #1 (Thrall AI, Combat)
  3. If it’s a poorly considered, major impact on the game and will crash clients and servers, ship it (New Purge, Live Settlements)
  4. I am playing this open world sandbox wrong

I do not see a path forward because there is no vision to follow.

I’m freaking frustrated lmao

But I agree, it does not feel in the slightest they play on vanilla.

I also agree that I’m being guided to how they want me to play. Look at the latest blog post…

Bahh. Nothing new there, yeah. I’ve read this same presser like four times now. Lol.

This is the part that bugs me:

“Their new behaviors are designed to enhance role-play and evoke a sense of vitality within the village setting at no cost to you!”

Now if I am to interpret what is being said here, it’s sort of like “we did this for RP and be grateful because we didn’t charge you for it” :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Nevermind that the rpers that have spoke up here so far are not impressed.
