What was the point to have a modding contest, to encourage people to support Conan Exiles Enhanced–when at every turn, the mods are again broken! Firefox’s extension community never recovered from the end of XUL.

This has been known about and warned about in advance for a considerable period of time. The devs looked into ways of avoiding requiring mods to be recooked, but in order to get this update to work (so that, among other benefits of moving to UE5.8, Iris could be incorporated to try to improve the server situation) the only way to do it was to require all mods to be recooked. Modders were notified about this a long time in advance, and provided with the devkit in extra time. Public Beta ran for an extended period as well in order to get things to work as well as possible. But it doesn’t change the fact that all mods would have to be recooked to match the engine. And many modders have lives, which means that there will be some delays as they get everything in order. It is unfortunate, but these things happen with mods.

Question: Are you talking about the initial migration to UE5 for Enhanced version? It would make sense for mods to break at that time, and your comment sounds like the dev kit/notice to mods was for that launch. However, I think the current frustration is that the mods continue to break on every minor version upgrade of the game. Do the mods get notified in advance of these releases like today’s?

Disregard, found the detail on the main update thread: [image] Patch 2.2.0 Discussion Megathread PC Discussion It was announced back in early August that this would be happening. Inflexion had tried to find a way around needing to force mod recooks, but it wasn’t viable. No. This update brought the game up to 5.8.2 and added Iris which is a net code upgrade. 5.8.2 has some major changes internally that add to stability of the game and Iris speeds up the net code transfers basically (increases information sent without increasing bandwidth used) - so servers and client can talk better. It should be a pretty good update honestly. I’m sure given time zone issues and people having to work and do real life things, the Mod Authors will get their mods updated soon. oops, sorry you answered your own question lol

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question. I am newer to using Gportal for my own server. As stated in the thread, mods are not working. Can someone with more knowledge out there tell me the best direction to go? Is it best to wait a few days or weeks and then try to re-apply the mods?

Yes, just wait a few days. Most mods will probably be updated by then. Some may take a bit longer, depending on what issues the modder may have going on in their life. Easiest way to tell if the mods you are using have been updated is to go to the steam workshop and filter your subscribed mods by ‘date updated’ - that way you can tell if they have been updated since the latest game update.

Stop crying. It’s the same in every game. Even in Skyrim, whenever they do an update to a 20+ year old game, most of the mods break and you need to update them.

Is there no abstraction from the game engine–to the mod API? This will really smite everyone who entered your mod contest.

Skyrim was released on November 11, 2011. While the game isn’t twenty years old, it is certainly old. I had 150 mods installed, and since I didn’t know an update was coming, I failed to prevent it from downloading. I tried to salvage the situation, but it soon became clear that it was a lost cause; the authors had long since abandoned those mods—not all of them, perhaps, but that didn’t change the outcome. So, I simply uninstalled the game. I didn’t want Conan to suffer the same fate, but I can already see that some mods might stop working; at least one author has already stated as much and suggested deleting their mod. So, whether there’s a warning or not, there’s nothing to be done about it. The only thing you can do is prepare yourself for the fact that you won’t be able to continue playing.

The people from Inflexion were on the Conan Exiles Modding discord and discussed this… a while ago. The modders knew about this for a while. Here is a video on YouTube talking about it… FROM A MONTH AGO! The modding community has been informed WELL in advanced about this update. Perhaps you, @BrendaEM, may not have been aware of it, but that is not Funcom’s fault, Inflexion’s fault, the modder’s fault or anyone else’s fault. I am not a modder and I knew about this a month ago, so a shout out to @Eradicati0n for this video! I think he did a good job on explaining it, though I could be wrong.
