All of my single-player savegames are lost

Game mode: Single-player
Type of issue: Lost savegames
Server type: Single-player
Region: N/A

Shut my computer down Friday to go camping. Just returned, looking forward to continuing my game of 80+ hours. Launched the game, click “continue” and I’m prompted to create a character. I tried restoring games from one of the “game_backup_x.db” files with no luck. None of them work. HELP!

  1. Have faith in FunCom
  2. Go away for the weekend and return
  3. Launch your single-player game
  4. Have heart crushed with a complete loss of savegames.

Hey there @GreenRazor

As @Shadoza mentioned, to use a backup db make sure to rename it to “game.db”.

I can imagine that you did a bad manip. This can happen, but you should be able to restore any ancient saves, or you deleted the full folder.

Check where your Steam folders are, then your game folder is located, then locate your save-files.
Then rename any old backup.db you want restore, check the date, to game.db.
Done !

Good luck !

My path: \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
Yes, I removed the old game.db and renamed game_backup_x.db to game.db. I tried this process with each of the possible backups available to me. I know that the exe is using the same path as me because it creates new game_backup_x.db files when I attempt to load my game. Further, there is only one “Conan Exiles” folder on my system. I’m not switching between hard drives or anything like that.

What does that mean? Are you suggesting that I somehow did this?

No, I’ve already tried that and it doesn’t work.

Just try to help you, and yes bad manips can happen. It can happen that a player hit the new game button instead of continue. Saw this several time posted, then returning on a previous save is working fine.

There is no reason you don’t have older saves files, or it was a very fresh party.
You posted un pc update and bugs so i presume you’re on pc, and using windows like most, or you would have stated it.

So depending where you installed your game on your machine, it should look something like that:
… :\Steam install\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved

Current save is still named game.db, while the older are named game_backup_1.db or other numbers.
Here simply make a back-up or your current save (we never know) on a safe place, then rename any older save file (look date) you want, with game.db.
This should do the trick.

Sure, like suggested you can check game files by Steam. This will check if you have all game files, and that nothing is corrupted or missing. It takes some minutes depending you connection. A check more.

Hope this helps !

That did the trick. Interesting resolution, not sure I understand why that would work, but, kinda don’t care at this point. Thanks for your help Shadoza.
