Bug Description:

All Thralls Decayed in Age of War - Single Player

Bug Reproduction:

Upon loading up my pre-existing Single-Player game, last played during Age of Sorcery, all of my thralls have decayed. All of their gear and related sadness have been lost without any chance to intervene. I quickly looked at the Server Settings under Building and Disable Thrall Decay is Unchecked though Disable Building Abandonment is Checked. I have never had this problem with extended absenses in Single Player before, especially considering that the game world is not active when the gamer is not actively playing it.

Oddly enough, I heard audio of one of these former thralls getting into a fight with an NPC outside, as they disappeared. I did not walk out the door to check for lootbags, due to composing this report.

Iā€™ve then stopped the game, made a copy of the entire Saved folder for assurance while taking the next steps.

  1. I restarted the game, re-entered Single Player - Exiled Lands. Thralls still gone. Changed the Disable Thrall Decay setting back to Checked.
  2. Exited to the Main Menu.
  3. I found the oldest game_backup_#.db file that was from 1 minute before the then current game.db file, and replaced the game.db with that file.
  4. Relaunched into Single Player - Exiled Lands
  5. Thralls were back, and the Event Log was clear, other than one Server Started message.

The state of Single Player games is so specific to stopping the game simulation that in both The Exiled Lands and my Isle of Siptah saved games, the door was still open from me last entering my dwelling before last Exiting back to Menu.

There should be NO way that the Single Player experience calculates Thrall Decay against the last date signed in, even if that option is set or if Building Decay is active. Dates for such things should always be based upon in-game time, not real world time.

Greetings Exile,

Thank you for your report. Can you please share your saved file and logs with us?

You can find it by following:

Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved

It should be the ā€œgameā€ file for Exiled Lands.

Also, if by any chance you still have a backup of the saved file from before the update, please also send it our way.

For the logs please follow:
Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs

Feel free to reach out in private via direct message if you prefer.

Thank you in advance.

Bug Description:

Nearly all companions gone after age of war-update

Bug Reproduction:

Hello. Iā€™m using the dedicated server launcher 1.7.1 to run an local server primary used with only one char. The char is not in an clan. After age of war-update nearly all companions are gone. They are not visible in the world. They are also not shown in the companions-View of the char.
Several Thralls, Bear, Wolf, 2x Horses, several cats and rats.

I taked a look in the servers ā€œgame.dbā€ and compared with 2 month old backup. The companions are still present and at the same position.

Same thing here. Playing on ps5 single player only, logged on after the new update to discover that every placeable thrall in my primary base has completely disappeared.

Those in secondary base are still present.

As I said, Iā€™m playing single player. Iā€™m wondering if the thrall cap that was imposed some time ago has got something to do with this? (I think the lomit was 50 and I would have been over thatm but hey, single player, so isnā€™t that up to me?)

Another awesome update Funcom, thanks so much. (Yeah, that was irony)

Edited to add: The only setting I can see in the server settings menu that looks like it should have anything to do with this is ā€˜Use Minion Population Limitā€™ and it is NOT checked. I havenā€™t played Exiled Lands for a while (been playing Siptah) so I havenā€™t been on it within the last 15 days but Iā€™ve done that before in Single Player and thralls havenā€™t disappeared (plus they havenā€™t ALL disappeared),

Also same things, nearly every thrall is gone, all followers gone. My horses, my white rhino, all ā€˜soldiersā€™, my golems. Just logged in today to check the new aow, thatā€™s really frustrating

I had to use admin panel to rescue several of my thralls that fallen into texture.

I am a solo-PVE player on the Exiled lands map. All thralls and pets at the base I was at when I started up my game after the update, are all gone, However 1 horse & 1 Archer remains (they can be seen on my followers list and on the map). The horse that remains was at a different location upon starting the game after the update. To give you an idea of the distance my base is just outside of New Asgarth and the horse is at the sanctuary ruins. The archer is at the Breach but I donā€™t recall leaving them there and when I go look for them I donā€™t see them (possibly needs to be rescued as syx said above). I personally made a backup of my saves just incase something like this happened but obviously I cannot roll back to the previous version of Conan (I tried and failed).

UPDATE: A user in the steam discussion regarding this issue mentioned their thralls decaying. Another user suggested Disabling thrall decay, then load your previous save (the save you had before you updated and loaded into the game) to get your thralls back. This worked for me and all my pets and thralls are back!!

I reported this problem immediately after the AoW beta was released. A community manager moved my report into a totally unrelated thread. The problem was never acknowledged. The process of converting a save to AoW changed the thrall expiration timer to On.

The bug obviously was never addressed and made it into the release.

I had the same problem (but on a private Xbox server). Every single pet and thrall (except for crafting thralls) in the entire Clan was gone after I updated with the new Chapter today.

If it was a case of decay suddenly being turned on shouldnā€™t I have lost all of my thralls? Iā€™ve only lost some (the ones at my main base, which happened to be my ā€˜bestā€™ ones, fully levelled Berserkers, Purge Cimmerians, etc. The ones at my two outposts appear to be all present and correct.

Whether or not itā€™s coincidence, my main base was where I logged in at, so itā€™s almost like something removed all of the thralls within a certain radius of my character, while those further away were ā€˜safeā€™. I suppose I should be grateful all of my chests / benches appear to be intact.

Either way, this is the straw that broke the camelā€™s back for me, I donā€™t have the motivation to throw myself on the mercy of RNG to try and ā€˜recaptureā€™ all of the thralls that I lost then level them up. I canā€™t even be bothered spawning them in via the admin panel - itā€™s the time taken to level thatā€™s the issue.

So Iā€™m done, will go try and find something else to play / spend my money on. Each update just seems to break stuff. And as usual thereā€™s complete and utter silence from anyone from Funcom. I canā€™t even see that a Community Moderator has acknowledged that thereā€™s a problem with disappearing thralls. Probably too busy dealing with the threads about all of the other stuff thatā€™s disappeared.

ETA. And please donā€™t bother thanking me for my understanding. I donā€™t have any. I donā€™t understand how Funcom can continually release flawed patches into the live environment.

Hi there. Any news regarding this topic. I just wanna know if I need to start overā€¦ (all!! thralls an pets are gone :frowning: )

Fix: For private servers, just log in to the server, put in admin password and change the setting on the crafting tab to disable thrall decay. Then log off, shut down the server and replace game.db with one of the backups from before you updated the game. Hopefully you make a backup before every update like I do. Then start the server again and boom everyone is back as they were.

The default is 15 days so Iā€™d like me you havenā€™t played for a while then it immediately deletes them.
