Today appeared on the bazar the Stygian Tomb set. Having a Stygian/Ancient Egyptian base, I thought it would be a great addon. I still had unspent Crom coins anyway so I purchased the set. I was mostly eager to use the Stygian Cat Idol because I wanted to recreate this scene from the temple at Louxor:
They’re basically the same size as a cat for crying out loud! I really thought they would be significant in size, especially when considering the size of other statues such as the Argossean ones, for example. It would be nice when offering these items to have a measure of scale next to items like that so we know we’re about to get bamboozled. Even offered on “special”, this whole thing is close to 30$ CDN. Feel like I bought something from Wish instead of Funcom…
If you look at the items in a set it gives you some idea of the sizes of the items in comparison to those things around it such as the standing sarcophagus being taller than the cat idol.
At least for that set, can’t speak for the other sets.
If you bought the idol by itself, unfortunately it does not have anything in the picture with it to get a size comparison when sold as a separate item.
This one here almost got me, till it it was brought to my attention later when the full set hit the baz that the cat idol is smaller than some of the other items being sold with it.
So use that as rule of thumb for other sets till they get something better to go by.
It would be nice for each item if it’s smaller than the average thrall that it gets some sort of comparison item in the picture when you highlight it from the set such as a foundation piece for example, but it does not.
The size of this particular statue was raised in a thread back when the cat made its first appearance on the bazaar. It also happened to have several photos of it. Eradicati0n also had a review of the Stygian set on YouTube
Predatory prices, fomo and a scam overall lacking any description of what you’re buying. Always been like that with the bazaar. I’m surprised they aren’t bugged. At this point it’s intentional.
I read in another thread, some armor items shown in pictures for the beachwear armor are not even included, but yet made it into the picture though there is a listing for those items in the official admin inventory.
And as I said in that thread, just because it’s in the admin thread, doesn’t mean it’ll make it into live. There’s a ton of stuff in the admin panel that’s been sitting there for years that was never released (demonic eye colours for example)
This reminds me of these cheap garden chairs from Aliexpress.
Folks around the world ordered thousands of these… and they got garden chairs for Barbie…
I always wait for YT review before I buy anything from Bazaar.
Like that new hammock, I had to see it first to ensure that you can actually lie in it…
PC master race can scale placeables with Pippi tho…
When you sell items you have a duty to make sure people know before they buy what they are getting and not getting otherwise…
That’s just plain shady business.
That means in cases of armor for example, more than just a picture as reference.
They also need to share what actions are available for items such as for example can you seat a thrall on the certain objects or do you need to manually place them.
Same goes for they need to do a lot better at showing size references with items.
We shouldn’t have to wait on a youtuber to tell us what we get, the company has a responsibility to be honest with it’s players/consumers to be detailed about the store offerings.
This one has been chewing over your very valid concerns.
At the end of the day, many legal jurisprudence and the cultures around them have adopted a caveat emptor stance.
Buyer beware.
This has encouraged many scummy habits, and basically enshrines them as best practices in the short term gain, who cares about sustainability, landscape of modern business.
Should they accurately and fully represent the products they are peddling?
Yes.
Do they have any enforceable duty to?
No, not in most places. Especially with the extra layer of legal padding that CC create.
So, while we shouldn’t have to wait for someone else to demonstrate the product…
It’s basically the only layer of protection we can have.
