Bazaar items which appear to be something functinal but are not

Purchased two of the sets from the Bazaar today, the Camping Kit and the Apothecary Assortment. Visually the items included in these sets are quite stunning, but items that you would suspect were functional beyond being purely decorative are not. For example, the Apothecary Cabinet which you would expect to have some storage capability has none, the Mortar and Pestle which is described as “An instrument for crushing” sounds like it would be an alternative to the Grinder. It is not, decorative only. The Camping Kit includes an item called Sleeping Furs which it is reasonable to believe would be a reskin of the bedroll, again it has no functionality beyond esthetics. You can place a bedroll on it, but it just winds up being a superfluous item eating up a carry slot and adding some weight, although the weight is minimal. I think it should be included in the item descriptions whether or not an item is purely decorative or has functionality, especially where items like those I mention would lead a player to believe they were functional. As mentioned above, the artwork on these items is awesome and will be a great for adding a wonderful RPG element to game play, but it is disappointing that there is not functionality, especially at the price point of these items.

Thanks I was going to buy the camping kit, mostly because I assumed the tent was functional.

Im glad you bought these, i was on the fence about the camping kit also, i felt on sale price of 11 dollars was to high, but now that i know its not functional its not even in the running

I believe they are trying to ensure it’s not a P2W sort of thing but I agree…some of these are just common sense things that aren’t going to break that image.

No but what would happen if I store stuff in my Apothecary cabinet and my teammate doesn’t own it? Talk about “entitlement.”

Yeah there has to be a coming to Jesus talk between Dev team and marketing. You can’t have personal “entitled” placeables and gear in a game that caters to clan teamwork. That is something a bit bigger than FOMO or any of that. That’s rewriting a core element of this game.

Id ask one of the guys who got the bookcase on the first day if teammates can use it, im interested in that answer according to youtube videos it has like 400 slots

I fully support this. I fell for the description of the Apothecary cabinet myself, thinking it could be used for storage, which left me feeling like I’ve been tricked - I’m sure that’s not what Funcom wants. So guys - please make sure item descriptions are really transparent. RP flavour descriptions are all good and fine, but we should be able to know exactly what we are spending Coins on; after all, there’s real money involved.

Sorry, I just wanna make it clear that I’m not laughing at you. It’s just that the way this new monetization has been designed, implemented, and handled has given me a very pessimistic view of the power dynamics involved.

don’t let it get you down. As with all things that get changed, there are pendulum swings towards effectiveness. This was one that was too far in one direction and needs to be moved back. FC was sitting too far on one side prior to the change and so there is this swing that is now too far the other side and you just got to trust that it’s going to balance it’s way as this things goes back and forth.

Funcom is looking more like Blizzard right now with that mobile micro transaction Diablo nonsense.
Why is everything so expensive in the baazar store and why isn’t items bundled better. I also thought that the new tent items were some type of cool new bed roll… Funcom if are reading this…This is wrong and you know it…

My clanmate can use storage in my BP Arcane cabinet but he can’t pick it up just like other DLC placeables. Of course IDK what about using it if they are not our clanmates (we two are the only players in our dedicated server).

I was wondering why to buy decorative stuff if the use of it on officials is not recomended? go play SP they say, if you like to do RP stuff but, why should we buy anything if in SP mods could offer much more. Why sell deco stuff if FC is not friendly to RP on their servers? If i buy all the stuff sold on bazar and make a big place to enjoy them all, i can be kicked from the server for having a laggy base. I loved the bazar and their stuff, at some point (when prices get regionalized for my country i hope) i would like to buy a lot of stuff, but i will have to enjoy then only in SP or Private servers?

What? Who exactly is saying that the decorative stuff is “not recommended on officials”?

Look, I can get how people could get the wrong idea about the relationship between the official server rules and the build size. No matter how many times Funcom (or anyone else) repeats that the rules are not merely about the size of your build, people get hung up on the bit that mentions “massive constructions” and use that as their argument. It’s wrong, but at least I can understand how they got there.

This, however? This notion that decorative items are “not recommended on officials”? I have no idea where you pulled that from.

These are the kind of red flags I was worried about when they mentioned monetization. First battle pass, then over priced Bazaar items, now items are misleading, I really want to be believe that these aren’t the devs handling this, but is still part of the game I love, and this will just lead to a negative view towards Funcom from my part.

Hello mage i got this impression since the old discussions about ToS update, because the 7th picture in particular posted in the land claim rules topic, it shows a base with lots os decos. I remember that we questioned Umbs about what was wrong with that base, and he tolds us that was bulding with no functions, just decoratives.
So on my mind, if build a room with a forge, alchemists e so on its ok, howerver if got some cool stuff and decide to build another room and fill it with bookshelfs, chairs, dinner table and others, then i have done a merelly Decorative land claim rigth? If the ToS is being enforce “ipsis litteris” so i fell on it. After what happened to me even all my buildings being fully functional, and having as decorative only small pathways between then it reinforced my feelings that decoration and RP is a risk in officials.

For that, we’d need the ability to use it as storage. Such a misleading description when it clearly reads used for storing.

This one actually pissed me off.

Okay, but there’s a big difference between “don’t use decorations on officials” and “don’t make a purely decorative building on officials”.
