Bound to multiple beds

No mods on any machine, 2 different dedicated private servers

My character is bound to multiple beds in various spots across the map. I have no idea where I will respawn since interacting with any of the beds gives no response. Bed style seems to have no effect.

I can force a bind location by picking up a bed and placing it again, getting the appropriate message. It is now fixed at that location and nothing else will change it.

Two of the beds are at my main base, the others: the mounds, J5, east of UC, west of UC; dedicated servers, less on single player, but the same with multiple backed up saves.

As examples from one of the dedicated servers:

  • Main base:

  • Mounds

If anyone knows where the bind location is stored in the .ini files, that could be a source of troubleshooting, but I suspect would have no correlation for the dedicated servers. Happy to try, though.

Finally got around to checking this one on Singleplayer and can confirm plus add a bit more info. Duplication method is to have multiple beds placed then relog. After placing my 2nd bed but before logging out, I was able to select either bed as my respawn point and the inactive bed was no longer bound to my character. The spawnpoint toggled successfully before relog. It was only after a relog that both beds were bound simultaneously.

*Singleplayer mode, therefore relog is a restart. Online testing will be required to verify which.

So, after remembering that I’ve got a dedicated testing server on my PC that I never use, I decided to run a couple more tests to determine whether it was the relog or the restart that caused it, and I can’t duplicate it on my multihome server. The spawnpoint toggled successfully for me on the server after relog and reset. I have no idea what the difference could be. I even removed my bracelet a bunch of times to double check which bed I spawned at.
*In case it matters, both beds were right next to each other in the same landclaim. But then again, that was also true when I was able to duplicate it in singleplayer mode.

Just went to double check in singleplayer mode after posting this and apparently this is all a roll of the dice. I again placed a 2nd bed down and they were both immediately bound to me. Then I relogged, picked up the bed and placed it again, and it toggled as expected - even after restart. Intermittent bugs are such a pain.

Hi guys,

Same issue… I took back the “good” bed to my inventory and reinstall it.
I will try it after my “next death”

Hey @Jim1

Thanks for the heads-up. We’ve sent it to our team so they can look into it.

Added interesting data, @Ignasi. I placed a bed to assure I would have a known spawn spot for a particular run. Afterwards, I picked up the bed and placed it in storage. At this point, all beds said they were bound to me.

Silly me, I fell off my base to my death. I had no spawn point except the desert. Quite a run in the dark from the desert to the pagoda, but I got back in time and rescued my equipment.

So, all beds show they are bound to me, but none are in fact, bind points.

Does anyone know, on a dedicated server, where that data is stored? It’s not local since that is for my single player game and there is no occurrence of bind or bound in any local files.

My next step is to pick up every bed I own on this server and start placing them again to see if the problem resurfaces, then pull my bracelet and see where I end up. I suspect it will be at the last bed I placed and all beds will indicate I am bound to them.

Well this is disappointing.

From the title I thought you got chloroformed, woke up somewhere you weren’t supposed to be, and were using the forums to call for help.

Halp? Chloroform is guud.

Narrowed it down a bit, but not completely. I picked up and stored every bed I had on the server then waited a day for server reset.

After reset, I placed one bed and got the normal message, then did the same half a map away. A third is in the north. I can now click on each bed and bind. Walking up to it shows it is not bound, since I was bound at another spot. Doing well so far, problem solved.

I suspect my original problem was placing two beds in proximity, 5 or so foundations. 1 was for show, the other for dying out of a fire with The Nemedian. That’s my next test.
