Bug Report: Golems with Harvest Corpse breaking (Public Beta - AoS Ch3)

Basic Info:

Platform: Steam
Issue Type: Gameplay
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: PvP
Map: Exiled Lands

Bug Description:

When a Golem with the sword tool (Harvest Corpse) goes to harvest a body, it sometimes fails to harvest and gets stuck in place. It will run to the corpse, stand next to it facing the wrong direction, and then stop completely. Waiting for real-time minutes did not change anything. Running away does not trigger for the golem to follow. Commanding the golem to move has it run to the commanded spot, then turn around and run back to the same stuck spot next to the corpse. I have seen golems successfully harvest corpses before, but it seems a coin flip on if it will work or just get stuck. I have not seen this issue with tree, stone, or fiber harvesting golems. I BELIEVE this may be related to the very long-standing issue where corpse ragdolls are tracked separately by servers and player. Online, it’s very common for me and a friend to see a corpse end up in very different places, even though we both can see, loot, and harvest the corpse in those different spots. Likewise one player can see a KO’d thrall fall through the ground, while another still sees it in the right spot. I imagine this also happens in singleplayer, even though the player and server are using the same machine. The golem may be running to where the server thinks the corpse is, but it’s using my screen to see that corpse is out of range, thus becoming stuck (or vice versa, running to the corpse on my screen but it’s too far from where the server thinks it is). I expect this bug could be fixed if the golem just automatically harvests when it reaches its stopping spot, regardless of if the corpse is in range.

Bug Reproduction:

Take a sword golem out hunting various animals. I first noticed the bug with elephants in the savanna, but when heading out to take a screenshot for this report it also happened with a small antelope.

I’ve taken a couple of screenshots of the bug, although they don’t reveal much.

In the above one, you can see it standing in place next to where I see the corpse. It isn’t running back to me even though it’s beyond my follow distance, so it’s clearly trying to harvest. This was taken after waiting about 60 seconds.

This is after the previous screenshot. I’ve run up and opened its inventory, confirming I have Hide in its harvest options and showing that it is basically standing on the corpse, definitely in range (on my screen). This is about 4 minutes of it stuck here, so it’s not just a sluggish AI.

These screenshots were taken in singleplayer.

Hi @Lyston and thank you for pointing this out.

Passed this information over to the rest of the team for further investigation.
