Can I expect lag in SP if I build 15-20 medium-size bases throughout the map?

Still very new to the game but I intend to play solo as I like to set my own pace and settings. Just bought the Year 1 DLC pack yesterday and wanted to build a few different styles of base throughout the map.

Can I expect a tangible performance hit if I build, let’s say 15-20 bases of medium size across the whole map? I have no experience with framerates on servers and the reported lag in larger player structures.

This is totally dependant on your pc specs.

Enough memory and if you install the game on an SSD you are good to run it as hard as you want with a medium cpu.

Big bases can take a second to load, but then i mean big, as in thousands of pieces.

I watched the comparison gifs with the improved loading times. I don’t think I will ever build something as large, but then again, I’m running on just 8 gigs of ram and an i5 3470 @ 3.2 / 3.6 ghz.

No SSD, sadly. I can live with loading chunk by chunk, if once it’s loaded, the overall framerates are fine.

Depends your machine, and also if you add mods, and if what.

Whit mods DB becomes quicly bigger over time, so keep that in mind.
But you should be able to build villages, settlements, nice bases and all. Try it out.

And yes, a good fast ssd is still better.

Have fun !

Running no mods, don’t intend to add any, so I imagine it will be ok.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond!

You should be fine, and in sp it dont matter if it loads a sec or two.

Maybe you wont even notice at all, the specs are fine to have a bundle of fun in CE.

Of yourse your graphichs card matter too when rendering the enviroment, but at least the cpu and ram are sufficient.

Try medium or low settings first and then moove up from there untill you find a suitable fps, i usually run 40-75 fps and it never feel chunky to me at all.

Yeah, I recently upgraded to an RX 570, 4GB and it holds a comfortable 40-60 fps so far, using the High preset.
