Can't Join Co-Op

My friends can’t join on the co-op game that I’ve got up and going. What gives? This should be so easy. This should not be an issue at all.

I’m confused as to why they keep getting failed to connect issues.

Ask them to get out of the game. Then invite through steam. Get them to connect via steam invite. I have seen that, that should work for most people. Haven’t tried it myself, but seen it often in forums.
