I am a little curious, what is currently stopping you from doing the exact same thing with an alt?
Well, it depends on the players. I have three friends who play in clans as if theyāre all married indeed. What belongs to one, belongs to the others. But when I join their clan, since I have the same understanding as you for clans and love my share of personal belongings and space, they always make sure to leave me a special spot with a special chest in any game we play, which they would not touch.
Access to inventory items with the allied base
Please forgive me since I left official pvp years ago, but there are/were ways around that too, I really fail to see the big difference in using alts versus an ally system, I mean many use(d) alts, some even did it all by themselves using 2 computers ![]()
I get that there has to be consideration to pvp when adding QoL, but it seems like pretty much anything can and will be exploited in pvp and therefore shouldnāt be a thing in the game ![]()
Well, alliances have a very limited use in general, so it doesnt surprise me that the possible headaches from policing the funcom servers on this one would overcome its value add to the game. Thereās a difference between people exploiting the system as is, and producing a system where you see more exploits added right away, especially when the feature hasnt even been rolled out yet. It doesnt surprise me if it doesnt happen. Itās not exactly a feature everyone would even want to use. Its pretty niche; which if easy to implement and solid against exploits, okay great, but if not, it isnt the end of the world.
An alliance would allow access without having to swap accounts immediately. I acn farm a ton. Then log in whenever i want hack and go in and get the resources. So hackingcould be 100% solo player swapping. To use an alt, you eother gotta wait for noone else online so you can leave open exposed chests while you swap accounts. No alliance means you probably need one other olayer to drop you the stuff when you swap.
There is a way to do alliances that wiuld literally need only one addition. Ability on pve to unlock doors and chests for certain players. Then have a setting and have it off for pvp.
Iāve always considered this as a possibility, though it would have to be default to locked, similar to auto close being default. Otherwise, you would find A LOT of PvE players trying to raid each other⦠and thatās some terrible PvE etiquette since nothing can be done to fight back. The unlock should be INTENTIONAL.
Also, getting rid of lock-on for other players on PvE would be another huge step in the right direction.
Do both of these and alliances would likely be unnecessary.
I merged two separate issues in my original post and I can see that we have misunderstanding already.
No I never wanted allied clan to have access to my storage.
Priority:
- my allies do not get attacked by my thralls when they come near or into my base (and vice versa).
Same when encountered out in the wild.
And we can stop here.
Sharing everything and having access to everything would just work like a 10+ person clan.
And then we would also get even more thieves and ninja looters stealing our gear and less control over our stuff. Noā¦
Maybe door access, maybe⦠- enable auto closing, disable auto closing, enable access for allies, disable access for allies.
Alliances + party mechanics is needed ASAP, as for now when you play with another player not from your clan itās more about controlling thralls so they donāt attack the other player or his thrall than enjoying the game.
There should be in game mechanics as we do it all anyway but have to go through pains of improvising and working around existing (by default hostile) mechanics.
And some private chests please.
I agree that clan alliances would be the second best thing after proper rights management (which currently practically prevents any large clans from existing).
And the bare minimum for alliances should be the removal of friendly fire between alliance members. This would allow alliance members to fight against same enemies.
It was simply: your allied thralls and pets wonāt attack you.
I think this paired with territory/clan names is good. There are (default) āruled by,ā notices that pop up if you go near someoneās base. It may not seem inviting, however.
I agree, and friendly fire is not forgotten.
Iād imagine that means PIN coded.
Players are saying yes to alliances. I wouldnāt want to be in a clan of unknowns. No need to switch and restart over with alliances.
Too many people love solo pvp. I can understand the reasons. We should never forget that mostly we started from solo, proceed to āclanā and after we saw both choose solo in the end.
I was lucky to āfinallyā find people to clan and āmatchā. But my console and my connection was the greatest reason i stopped pvp, my ps4 couldnāt handle pve, i was crashing in big bases and i couldnāt render, so pvp was out of plans anymore.
So people who solo pvp, many times are bullied from greater clans. Alliances would help solo pvp players to answer.
I do understand domination is the goal and solos could clan up. But it cannot work properly, because everything belongs to the clan leader and he cannot give back lotās of things if someone leaves the clan after, such as thralls and buildings. Thatās why alliances are important in pvp.
Now for pve and pve-c other problems would be solved. The greatest is land claim, that exists on pvp too, yet unlit Zendesk reacts maybe some buildings will be missing
.
Letās say 5 people want to play the game in a pve server. Each one wants to build his own base, thatās the fun in pve, yet if they clan up, then itās very possible to be banned because of land claim. So allies would help these friends to enjoy the game and have a minimum access to some things, thatās why with allies chests that work only for this purpose should exist, so people can help each other even off line.
Clans and parties would be just a biggest QOL upgrade ever.
We want to play together with other players, but we donāt want to be forced to clan with them.
If I want to run a dungeon with another dude, then I want to run a dungeon with him, not share the bed.
Also currently the thralls may keep attacking us or each other, so in the end we have to switch them to manual mode.
Now when you want to help your befriended clan defending their home from evil mansion owners from the noob river you actually canāt go to their base as their thralls are going to attack you as currently they see the world in binary mode - clan member or enemy.
I see adding alliances and parties not as expanding the game but as removing the unecessary pain from it and big QOL improvement.
As for private chests it should be a separate type of chest to manufacture and it should be only available to be opened by itās creator not anyone else in the clan.
PIN code chest is not a private chest, itās a PIN code chest⦠![]()
I wouldnāt like to have to enter a PIN every time I access my private chest, and often we run a lot between chests to sort things or find something.
Having to enter the PIN couple a times per minute would be a torture.
Iām not sure friendly fire immunity is enough to warrant a whole game mechanic. Imagine what the reaction would be if it came at the expense of more impactful mechanics.
Let me explain that. I was fighting the giant snake purge. Most of my minions killed off the smaller ones, but they were dying quickly to the 3 skull snake. I jumped in and all my minions got hit or died within a few swings of my weapon. The minions lost aggro, and then the fun factor changed.
Least I didnāt waste time leveling all of them.
Yeah this is one of two consequences of the way authority works now as opposed to the old perk system that Iām ānot fond ofā.
Authority was brought in as a choice between you being strong or your thrall. Okay. I can accept that part. However, thereās the problem you describe when not following where they are weak, and then thereās the problem of when they are scouting after the playerās death. I had a thrall with me once at the mounds, I got pinned between two cimm 3ās and killed, leaving my thrall without the benefit of my authority. By the time I got back, I arrived in time to see it die. Neither I or my thrall was strong at that moment.
Thatās another great reason that pve is way more difficult on pvp!
Authority build gives us two options, the one is 99,99 % certain that your thrall will reach lvl20 safe and the other is risky but you can lvl up 2 thralls in the time of one. So in pvp or pve-c servers using war party i believe that spears are one way street. This way all 3 of you can hold position and it will be very difficult to hurt each other. Your position must be in way that you will make the boss rotate and loose critical time on reaction and probably miss on hit. Yet itās not the best option since by giving a momentum to your thralls will make the fights faster which means safer as well. So war party in pvp servers means one thing, skill!
Pve in pve servers can be as sloppy as hell, yet some bosses can be punishing no matter what and giant snake is one of them. But pve in pve servers has no great need for skills, just knowledge!
Although i would love to hurt my thralls in pve (official) servers and getting hurt by them, training a feline would be a mission impossible, it comes always from behind, changing literally over you and swing in a battle not allowing you to have a proper position for battle, so giant snakes and queen locusts are ideal for battle followers in this case.
I got some snake eggs. I heard positive things about them. I think they are a 1 skull giant snake. I havenāt figured out the best-way/only-way to hatch them.
Minions are plenty, which makes alliances desirable.
The giant greater snake is the thing, and you need the battlepass to get it. Without battlepass you get a ⦠medium sized cobra.
Considering the regular cobra has magnificent 44 (!) hitpoints, they arenāt very useful.
Snake hatchling has no decay timer, so you can put your egg in the compost and forget it to pick it up whenever you wish. I use shapespised abysmal flesh in the pen to get an alfa cobra and train it with bone broth. Like @Smoketreader said itās a bp benefit to gain a giant snake and an alfa (huge) giant snake.
The difference between the vanilla snakes and the giants are big. The vanilla is difficult to accept hits, they are really fast so devs lvl them up extremely quickly but they donāt get great of anything. The great snake and the huge alfa lvl up way slower but they get really good stats. The huge alfa can be circled by 20 npcs hitting it at the same time, but donāt get staggered, it reacts like frost giants giving heroic epic battles to the very last breath, amazing pet.
@Bathory, my apologies for off topic
