Clicking CONNECT on the Mod Mismatch screen while the button is greyed out can cause the game to launch multiple instances of Conan Exiles (I’ve seen anywhere from 3 to 20+) and potentially bombard the user with UE Fatal Error popups, Funcom error reporting dialogues, and Out of video memory errors. In one extreme case so many copies were launched that Windows 10 crashed with a System Service Exception BSOD.
Reproduced several times across several consecutive days with a Win 10/i7/GTX 1060/NVMe SSD build.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
- Connect to a server using mods that don’t match your mod list.
- When the mods are listed and their status is listed as ‘Checking,’ move your cursor to the CONNECT button but wait briefly for about 1-2 seconds (clicking too soon will do nothing).
- While the CONNECT is still greyed out before mods finish checking version/updates, click on the CONNECT button one or more times (I’ve managed to trigger this several times with a single click, but multiple clicks seem both more likely to trigger the issue and to launch more copies for the purposes of reproducing the issue).
- In a moment you’ll see the CONNECT button stops being greyed out. The game should have registered your earlier click(s) while it was busy, and should now close and restart itself as if you had already clicked on the button. The game may seem to launch normally at first, but tab out and check how many windows of Conan are open. Some of them may also get stuck as background processes never getting as far as creating a window.
