Conan Exiles and The Secret World

This is more a lore question than every thing else. I wanderd along in the Exiled Lands and stumbled over some ruins (swarming with madmen of course) named: The Ruins of El-Merayah. After playing my bag of hours “The Secret World” I couldn’t but notice. Plus when you read “Info” about bees there is a quote from the buzzing. So my question is: is this just a funny easter egg or do CE and TSW share an universe? (like Howard and Lovecraft ) Are Conan Exiles and The Secred World pen pals too? And if anyone noticed more of those hints, feel free to comment!

They’re just easter eggs. Funcom makes both games, so it’s a reference to their other projects

This was one thought… but otherwise isn’t a whole ruin more than a reference? I am asking because I roleplay on a german server and where always searching thouroghly for lore hints we can rely to. An FunCom is pretty much one of our most important sources for that, besides Howard himself.

If they do, its about as close as Inglorious Basterds and From Dusk Till Dawn sharing the same universe (if you know how that works).

Its possible though. But to be honest I doubt the idea was for TSW to be set in the REH alternate historic universe during its development. So probably not. For a sake of reference, the Hyborian Age takes place in a alternate history to our own, taking place in 12,000-10,000BC. The Thulian Age (the time of Kull the Conqueror) happens some time before the Hyborian Age. His stories that happen much later are in the same universe, including I believe his stories that take place in the 1800s.

FC could probably get away with saying TSW takes place in modern times in that universe. But that would be a slight retcon of TSW at this point. So anything you see is probably Easter Eggs. But as said, it would only be a ‘slight recon’ so who knows? If they wanted to do it, they could do it.

thanks for your reply. TSW has this “Ages” and I often thought, if the Hyborian Age could be on of them. So it stays a bit of a mystery and a big “Probably but not sure” …I like playing around with that thougt though. Because FunCom could do both easily. Just a easter egg and “Of course, this is all planned” I played TSW and found it was very well written, with a broad foundation of background informations.
