Connvergence traps gone

So i joined server official,who i left for 30 min while storm bugging pinng… before that i maked convergence trap, i return home, and i see this

HOW? I was not even in game, those creatures not attacking structures if nobody is near… I suggest either add title of players that probably use PVP in pve either take off the damage of traps from beasts…

This is not a bug. Another player came close to your trap. Elders spawned and hit your trap.

Don’t leave your Convergence trap Unguarded.

Great that PVP players now can lure npc on PVE servers…

They don’t have to lure anything. If you’re in the Maelstrom, the monsters spawn around you. If you happen to be near someone else’s trap, it might get damaged during the fray.

Well, no, not just “damaged”, but outright destroyed, because one hit from any of the Maelstrom critters will destroy it.

Your supposed to build a structure or defend the Convergence trap while it runs. Its not meant to left and forgotten.

I’ve been futzing around with the maelstrom on my private server and I can (probably) explain what’s going on here.

There are three types of elder things:

  1. Ambient elder things that spawn into the maelstrom whether or not a player is around.
  2. Ambush elder things that spawn into the maelstrom when a player is near.
  3. Siege elder things that spawn into the maelstrom when a structure (which includes both building pieces and placeables) is above the minimum count value configured for the server. The configured value on official servers is currently zero.

So, one of three things happened:

  1. An ambient elder thing spawned near your convergence trap.
  2. A player was near your convergence trap and an ambush elder thing spawned near it.
  3. Because a convergence trap bumps your building count to 1, it’s above the current limit of 0 and a siege elder thing spawned and attacked it.

Oh well shoot. That’s what I get for relying on my memory. Somehow got it in my head it was zero.

That means it was one of the first two, unless op built a structure in addition to the trap and forgot to mention that.

All good, I was just worried that I had misunderstood the settings :slight_smile:

Quick to clarify is the settings taken building power score or actually construct objects

This is what the tooltip says:

Not sure what “blocks” means in this context.

This means Building blocks, so foundations, ceiilings, pillars and walls… as for the damage to the Convergence Trap, it takes damage whenever the lightning strikes it… and if it’s still there, it will take damage… also, as a structure, in the storm, it will take damage from the storm.

Siege or not its not normal that those traps can stand lightning that hits it 5000 HP - 20 HP then… but on any mob passing it instantly disappear… this actually even looks like BUG u know when something gets breaked from damage, u can se it breaking like foundations flotsam for example breaks with crack and barrels flying… but these traps just looks like going instant transparent … because after some beast go on them u can still see the on map for 5 min until storm ends… Those mobs should not INSTANT destroy traps just by touching it… should atleast lost like 100 HP per hit only not disappear like bug… also why on PVE someone can lure beasts on them… even purge in exile land was not like that - suree aimed for nearby player structure, but never actually instantkill some of it…

I haven’t seen them destroy anything just by “passing by it”. They destroyed my first trap by attacking it. They aggroed it, took a swip and poof! It disappeared and dropped a loot bag.

Only building pieces have an animation and sound effect for breaking. The placeables – such as tables, chairs, crafting stations – don’t have them.

I’ve never seen that, either with my traps or anyone else’s. It would be nice if you could provide a screenshot or a video, to include with the bug report.

Well my traps never been destroyed when they actually attack them, they just step on them and they disappear, even bag not dropping…
