Could not connect to server. Authentication failed!

Game mode: [ (Both Official and unofficial)]
Type of issue: [Crash : Could not connect to server. Authentication failed!]
Server type: [ PvE]
Region: [NA]

[Can not log in to any servers, get "Could not connect to server. Authentication failed! "]

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. install, reinstall Battle eye, doesnt matter some server are not running Battle eye and still get Could not connect to server. Authentication failed!
  2. Verify steam files
  3. Change Steam name
  4. restart Game
  5. Restart Steam
  6. restart PC
  7. bang keyboard with fist after sitting through 25 opening videos just to get Could not connect to server. Authentication failed! 25 times

Does your steam name contain special characters or symbols?

I get the same error every time there’s an update. And every time it takes days to finally get back, usually with a different solution. Last time I cleared the Steam Cache (Steam>>Settings>Downloads>[Clear Download Cache]<). Before that it was logging in in Single player mode first. Time before that it was unsubscribing to mods… Check the Conan log files for a clue (Go to your local log files: /ConanSandbox/Saved/Logs.)
Also, there is no need to sit through the cinematics. (Conansandbox/Config/defaultgame.ini.) Scroll down til you see:
+StartupMovies=StartupUE4
+StartupMovies=StartupNvidia
+StartupMovies=CinematicIntroV2

Change the pluses to minuses:
-StartupMovies=StartupUE4
-StartupMovies=StartupNvidia
-StartupMovies=CinematicIntroV2
No more cinematics

Rache, there is a bit simpler way to skip the cinematics with the same effect that you may want to try.

Using the same file and path you listed, find:

bWaitForMoviesToComplete=True
and change it to:
bWaitForMoviesToComplete=False

I get about a second or so of one movie then the main menu loads.

I only wish I had a solution to the other issues; they sound quite frustrating :frowning:
