Crystalline Golem Parts?

I’ve been trying to use golems and undead exclusively to defend my purge base. I’ve also been taking Crystalline Golems to hard boss fights. Losing a level 20 human thrall is too much of a waste. I find crystalline golem parts when killing sorcerers and in metal chests in the overworld. I’ve not had much luck finding them in dungeons. The problem is I can never find legs. Does anyone know of a place to easily find crystalline golem legs?

As far as I know, it’s completely random what you find. I’m lacking arms in my current game.

If you’re playing on the Exiled Lands, maybe visit Mek’s Spire and wait for the golem teacher to sell legs. It’s expensive, but should fill that gap.

For purges, maybe mix and match? Iron legs should work fine, too.

There probably are some places where it’s easy to farm pieces - beat the RNG with superior numbers. Which map are you playing on? Anybody got good farming ideas for that map?

About purges: WIth a good setup, you shouldn’t loose any thralls at a purge. For me, the following worked best so far:

  • Surround your camp with a big-radius wall.
  • Include a large gate and a corridor inside the wall that channels the attackers into a nice conga line.
  • Put 6-12 good thralls at the end of the corridor. Give spears to about half of them. Set the engagement, disengagement and follow distance to 5 m.
  • Kill archers and bombers that stay put at the gate with gas arrows or gas bombs.

That creates a veritable meat grinder that should be very safe for your thralls.

go to unknown city and farm the relic hunters, the lead relic hunter ( the one in black armor)
drops crystal golem parts frequently, there’s 5 groups of relic hunters throughout the unknown city, just get a grind on, in a couple hours you should have a healthy amount of crystal golem parts, bring a camel to carry that stuff, it’s heavy

I’m playing on the base game exiled lands. Mostly I play solo on official and I’ve lost several human thralls trying to get recipes from beating Thagg. Purges, Yes I will mix and match. I’ll try the base set up in creative mode.

This pictures shows my current setup.

The dotted line is the direction the purge attackers would take if they weren’t killed in the blue box. Rarely, a lone demolisher manages to get through. This why the coffer is behind a door with two spear-wielding lesser thralls.

Spears, to reiterate, seem to be very useful in this setup. Maces are generally best for DPS, but in the tight brawl the corridor creates, some thralls with spears hit and stagger across the battlefield. The two door defenders attack so quickly that the demolisher rarely if ever gets to swing his ram.

This is how it looks from the purge’s direction:

The thralls are level 20 T4 thralls, some Cimmerians, some others. They have very good epic and some legendary weapons, good non-epic heavy armor and a stack of gruel. None of them got below 90% in the last runs.

Works like a charm to at least level 5, which seems to be enough to get all recipes - got the armor recipes, cauldron, archer post, rations so far.

Without gas arrows, it still works, but is a bit tedious.

The archers are not necessary and may even be detrimental, as some attackers try and manage to charge through the defenses to the archers. Got one killed that way - that’s why I fenced them in with those cool bull statues.

I did loose a thrall I had on follow as I foolishly allowed it to run outside the walls. It got cornered and killed there. Never allow that to happen - set followers on “stop” or don’t have active followers at all.

The same setup works up to level 10 on another game, but with epic armor and all Cimmerian thralls and a slightly tighter corridor. The open corners on the side of the entrance ramp, for example, are dangerous, as thralls or oneself my become cornered and killed there.

I tried two slack golems near the entrance door on my last purge, but they got killed very quickly. They might be nice to use behind, not in front of my melee guys, or possibly mixed in with them if they had gas masks. Never worked a lot with golems, but the slow effect seems very useful for purge defense.

What an outstanding combination of pyramid and storm glass…
Outstanding combination!!!
Upload it on share your shelter immediately!!!
Congratulations Khaletohep and thanks for sharing .
My fellow exile @MadNomads @NesterT2 is absolutely correct, not that Khaletohep ain’t, but heroes are way easier to grind. Just keep in mind it’s rng. If you are unlucky the only suggestion is the one that Khaletohep already said. The master carver sells limps in timer rotation, so gather up multiple resources to buy what you need.
However!
If you have good performance allow me to give an opinion here that’s very important for the few remaining days of this purge system.
The less your defense is, the less the opponents you’ll have in purge.
Right now there’s a weapon that staggers on heavy attacks and do not bounce on shields. 2h axe!
Light armor, i use dragon hide
20 strength (combo master, crushing swings)
20 agility (10% dmg light - rolling thrust)
10 vitality (fast healer)
10 grit
Both buffs on strength
Just make a couple hallways smart to jump from one to other. Place oil cauldrons for cripples on enemies and swing their death in masses. They cannot move easily, they cannot side you, they cannot hit from behind. Train a bit and slay them relentlessly you’ll enjoy the hell of it!
Have fun exile!

Keep an eye on the Crystalline Merchant for legs to purchase.

True, i didn’t zoom the photo, you are very correct. Yet i love the lines @Khaletohep created, it’s something else. I am not over exited, her design is simply perfect.

Thanks. It’s pyramid with Turanian doors and pyramid doors in it. Expensive to build, but it looks nice. My favorite building “set” since it got released; built a small town with it in my main game.

I’ll add some decoration and post some pictures to the “show of your base” thread, so that we don’t hijack this thread any more.

I mix it too. That’s why I immediately recognized it.
