Bug Description:

Dive-rolling onto any surface above or below your character instantly kills you. This is especially weird since this is quite literally how you dive into water several feet below, or onto a hard surface.

Bug Reproduction:

Do the special Crouch+Jump dive onto a surface of any other elevation.

I didn’t want to lose my armor so I found a spot it wouldn’t kill me. Corruption-free version soon.

I don’t think it’s a bug. it’s always been like that. 2 hands and 2 legs jumps dont give same damage

They actually do. You’d have to know about biomechanics to understand why, but it’s roughly summarized as: legs have more muscle (as a general rule) but a very limited range of motion. Often when falling, you have more than just downwards momentum acting upon you, so the muscles in the legs are often underutilized. Arms, on the other hand, can use pretty much all of the muscle groups in the upper body at once and in any direction. It’s why our first instinct when falling isn’t to outstretch our legs, but our arms!

Anyway, as promised. Shorter fall, but same flat damage.

So your report was “instantly kills you” and you show us this…? That you are taking damage when you dive roll? This is not a bug. The dive roll was introduced to jump into deep water. Not fingertip and head first onto solid ground. Try doing this in real life and come show me your fingertips and head. Biomechanics… yikes.

I always assumed it was just colossal brain damage.

For how dismissive you are, you’re sure ignorant. You’re also apparently illiterate. My sympathies.

I did too, but you can fall from heights that would break your legs so ???

Either way, that’s something you’re taught to do to break your fall if you have forward momentum. Your legs aren’t so great at it.
