Bug Description:
When using a hatchet to get wood from a tree, and the efficient harvest perk (last hit = double yield) I’m not getting double resources. I’m using a black blood hatchet with the improved tool upgrade from the tinker bench, and I’m hitting trees in the snow biome. I can break them in 3 hits, the yield for just wood is “40 wood, 40 wood, 38 wood”. With the efficient harvest perk, the last hit should probably be 76 wood?
Bug Reproduction:
Hit a tree with a hatchet, preferably the black blood with the advanced tool upgrade and efficient harvest + hard worker perks. The final hit isn’t double for me
That is not a bug, you will get 18-20 on last hit without that “efficient harvest perk.” So the last hit is doubling the 18-20, giving you 36-40.
I just tried it on desert trees near the Asura cave and I’m getting 40, 40, 80?
It seems the trees in the snow biome are at odds.
Desert tree yields:
Snow tree yields:
It doesn’t surprise me that certain trees yield more, but you’ve proven my point, it IS doubling your last hit. Compare the the same tree, with and without that perk.
My experience with this perk is:
Nodes with an even number (for example rocks who break on second hit) will give you the second one multiplied (40, and the last 80). On the other hand, the nodes with odd number (stones with three hits capacity) are not going to give you anything more (so it will be 40, 40, 40).
I don’t quite understand this.
It’s an odd dichotomy though that the previous 2 hits for both trees are exactly the same (38 or 40) and then one tree gives 80 and the other 40 on the last hit. If the trees were different then surely the first 2 hits for one of them should also be lower or different?
I’ll try them both with the perk off and see what happens. It seems both trees give the same yield for all hits but the last - where one tree gives half, how odd. I’m not sure why they were programmed this way, this means even the small desert trees give more than 60ft pine trees haha.
Yeah, the only difference I’ve seen so far was, that with the perk two-hit nodes give double resource for the last hit, and without the perk not. Three/six-hit nodes, that are not 2-4-6-8, or give you more different resources (depends on what tool are you using) give me the same amount of anything.
