Fatal Error on start up and blank error log

Getting Fatal Error with no error message on start up. This has been happening for days. I try to load the game and as soon as it gets passed the launcher i get a fatal error and empty bug report pop up but the game continues to load in the back. (its unplayable) I have tried everything short of uninstalling the game itself because looking online it doesnt appear thats even going to work.

Tried to load the game

When you say “empty log” are you just referring to the fact that there’s nothing in the messagebox…OR did you actually go ahead and check the REAL log? :slight_smile:

If not the second one, then go and check that.
You can do so by right-clicking the game in Steam, selecting Manage → Browse local files.
This will open your game installation folder and you can go to ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs and get the ConanSandbox.log file and upload it here after a crash.

The fact that the game continues to load though indicates that there isn’t an actual fault and you might just be getting that crash as a result of an incorrect entry being made in the SilentEvents.log, so you could try deleting that file in the same folder and see if that fixes it, in which case there’s no need to upload anything as that’s your solution.

im not sure what silent events are but it “may” have fixed the issue. there were 2 silent event files so i deleted both and no crash as of yet. thank you.

EDIT: the silentlogs stopped the fatal error on start up but i still get a fatal error eventually.

so i let me game run over night and while i was at work and it errored sometime between work and driving home to find it had the same blank error. i was able to log on a server but the game keeps doing the silent event txt file.

now im getting the infinite load screen when trying to connect to a mod server

Thank you for your report. Please follow the steps to verify your game files:

  1. Open Steam
  2. In Library, click with the right button on the game and select “Properties”
  3. Select the Installed files
  4. Select Verify integrity of game files….

Please, also verify if you need to make a windows update as well as a Graphics Driver update.

If this issue still persists, turn off any mods or go to an official server and/or disable In-Game Full-Screen Mode to see if this is still happening.

Since the issue is not occurring in a non-modded server, then it seems the problem might be related with the specific server/Mods that are being used in said server.

In that case, we would advise you to join the Admins United discord (also referred on: Admins United: Conan - Discord for Server Admins! ) as this discord includes server admins with enough experience to better assist you aesir21.

all good - i just kinda hope i get to play the game again before new years.

Are you meaning on a new computer? If so, and I’m speaking only as a player here, but I have been tracking and simulating how some new machines with out of the box settings can run high and dangerously hot with a game like SCUM, ARK and even Conan Exiles.

New comp - 3070 or 3080 ti and game doesnt load or even start- as a comparison my old comp with its 1070 ti did. was running atlas and ark fine on my new comp(granted no multiplayer but still)

@Sharpe Beg your pardon for the back and forth, but I have worked up a couple of test cases using the Out Of Box experience for a CyberPower PC, using AutoOverclocking as enabled in the UEFI.

Consider a 3.5Ghz Intel overclocked to 4.5 with underclocked RAM, a 3D game is going to soak up every available bit of that juicy power with very little headroom. You’ll quickly get into thermal throttling which will fatal the application. If your system is overclocked, move on to the next one because it’s one we can quickly correct.

Is your video card overclocked? Is it using any on-board or in-app frame rate limiting or targeting? This includes within the chipmaker’s app like GeForce Experience. If it is, turn it off.

Finally, if you can eventually get to the game’s menu, turn off VSYNC in the settings for now. If you can’t, let me know.

i kinda forgot - there might be a frame rate limiting using ge force experience. Not sure on overclocking - i’ll have to double check on the UEFI and maybe turn it off (i assume thats what i need to do) .I’ll check down the line over december , still thanks for the help barnes.

Frame Rate Limiting can cause fatals, it’s advised to turn it off anywhere other than in-game. Conan does great if you limit frames via the Settings Menu to something easy to obtain like 60, which is perfect for playing and recording, in beautiful 1440p.
