Fatal Error when opening the game

Bug Description:

I can join the server but the game closes after a few minutes. That “fatal error” message appears right when opening. I saw here on the forum some people saying that this error can be solved by deleting a file from Windows update KB5008012 but I don’t have this installation and the game still doesn’t work.

Apparently a lot of people are having this error but I don’t see Funcom doing anything about it. There is still no official note about it? Does anyone have any idea what to do?

KB5008012 is not available anymore as a stand alone update to be removed. It’s part of one of the larger updates now.

This is also happening to me - can anyone run it on PC Game Pass any more? Seems like a pretty big flaw if not!

Yes, nobody is able to play the game anymore on game pass. Unless they’re using Windows 11, older Windows 10 (without the december+ updates).

Game Pass version is a total mess. Every few weeks there is a major problem.

Well, sure is a terrible advert for the game. Why would anyone buy it on Steam if it’s totally broken on Gamepass!?

not true, i’m on the most recent version of windows 11 and its still broke.

Note game is installed on my D:/ drive.

Hate to say it but i’m trying to install it on my OS (C) drive right now but will have pretty much 0 space left.

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with launching the game.

One workaround is to make sure you install Conan Exiles on your C drive.
We are also working on our next game update that will hopefully help resolve this issue once the game is updated.

My game is installed on the C drive on 2 different computers, and both experience the same Fatal Error, so that workaround doesn’t work.

When do you expect your next game update to release?

It gives me a fatal error, I can’t play.
Private server, with mods. All mods updated and checking tells me ok.

I somewhat doubt that all mods you have are updated. Make sure they indeed are by making a backup and testing the ones which haven’t received an update after patch day. @DesperadoFfA

All 3 of my conan servers crash just as it logs in. The mods load fine it enters the server a few seconds after or right when it logs in the server crashes says fatal error I had Gportal support try to log in they added my mods was in game about 5 min then they loged out why cant i play my own servers Gportal support said it was a game issue and to contact Funcom please help

Yes I get the same ‘fatal error’ no matter what server I get on to.
I went through the ‘verify integrity of game files’ process too, but that made no difference.
It started happening straight after the game update 2.8

A friend of mine just got it working again on gamepass win 10.
He uninstalled windows update KB5009543.
it seems like that update has replaced KB***8212

can anyone confirm this?

You mean it’s not running for you. Because it’s true that it’s running on my Windows 11 laptop right now.

A friend just upgraded to Windows 11 (fresh install, not the 10>11 update) and installed the game. Also working.

And the C: or D: drive has no impact on it.

Can’t do it unfortunately. It seems this one was already replaced by another.

My Win 10 PC has it over the update history (installed on Jan 14), but it’s not there anymore to uninstall.

Please put the update on game pass. It’s the same problem as the last update. There is no update being pushed to the game pass client.

Can’t bear reinstalling this game again every 3 weeks or so.

Have the same problem and the update unistalled…but the error is still there.

Oh… I play on Steam - connect to server - at the end crash with fatal error.

Then you probably use mods or load the game with mods.

yes, but the mods are updated and i can play in single player - but NOT online or in Koop.
