u see? this is the problem! everything is dumbed down to 2 sticks and 4 colors.
because when consol players look at a 101 button keyboard they get dizzy
I can play it with mouse and keyboard on Series X if I want to. So your dumbing down for console argument is kinda pointless
Please don’t blame console players for Funcom’s decisions. They did not make the decisions, Funcom did. They did not ask for the changes any more than we did. And they are more negatively impacted by many of the UI changes than we are. Blaming other players simply because they play on a different platform is unhelpful and innaccurate. It is also a very easy way to derail any topic into an argument that has nothing to do with the original concerns.
I usually play on ps or xbox but I do have Conan on pc and it may be unintentional but it seems to me they focus more on pc version as it is much more user friendly within menus.
Changing things like moving across to different parts of menus using only R3 rather than letting players use d-pad still is an odd move in my mind as there was nothing wrong with using d-pad and R3, being forced to just use R3 is weird.
The menus are buggy on both consoles too as anytime I open inventory, or benches I have to fight against the computer by using R3 to change menu area to then move back when all I wanted was to press d-pad to move a space or two which is just irritating and needs fixing.
What’s the menus like while using them on pc as I can’t play on my pc right now as keyboard is broken?
Nobody has. All anyone has done has either agreed with you or pointed out not everyone is having major issues with it.
No one said that.
A broken update isn’t going to get anyone killed.
Dude, take a breath, close your eyes. breath in, breath out. Now go out side, take off your shoes and find some grass to walk in.
Agree, I said before the issue was funcom trying to homogenize the control system. basically make it identical for game pad and keyboard. I have no idea why but I’m guessing so they don’t have to deal with 2 different controller setups.
I know I asked for easier sorting a while back. Like what Enshrouded has, and we got the new stack system. Love it, problem is the rest is pure crap. Now we got a bit back with the hot fix, with everyone all hyped about losing custom stack I expect it back in the next hotfix.
Now this could have all been avoided if
1: More peopel that play more ways; as in game pad, were on testlive.
2: funcom actually listened to the players that have given up all their bazaar and battle pass items to test updates, BEFORE they go live.
But look at it this way, funcom has 2 more months to get it right. I know they wont, but I have no doubt they will try.
I figure the game is ported to consoles, and something is always lost in translation.
I know some of the worst games I played on PC early on were console ports. I have the mad max game. It was a console crossover design to work with an Xbox game pad. I never could manage to play on a keyboard, and I can’t handle those mini joysticks. Don’t have any fine motor skills left in my thumbs anymore.
Funny you should ask that. Before I loaded up a new character in singleplayer after completing the Battlepass, I did some testing with a controller. Now… bear in mind my perspective here. I’ve only played the PC version, and while I’ve done testing with a controller before. Its always been with a focus of moving around and fighting. I’ve never actually tried a playthrough with it due to building with a controller just being… annoying to me (I’ll admit that it probably isn’t to people who are used to it).
But when I was interacting with crafting and inventories. I was like, wtf is this? It had been so long since I used a controller for that, that I figured it was always like that and I just didn’t have the experience with it. But something seemed off.
I brought it up with some other players and such and they mentioned that the controls were changed. Where you have to use the stick to change inventories. Well I gave my feedback on it, from my point of view. That being a veteran CE player who knows the game inside and out, but a complete noob on the controller. I think that’s a pretty unique experience. But one that has a bit of insight. I KNOW how the game should be played, and if I struggle with controls, then they are VERY much not intuitive enough.
If I flounder with a controller in inventories and what not, then how the hell is a newbie going to fare? So that experience and feedback was given and heard. Who knows if anything comes of it though.
Anyway, to answer your question about PC. Not much has changed honestly.
There was a hotfix that returned split stack. The way that works on PC is when you click and drag a stack, while holding shift, it brings up a menu to split the amount. You can move a slider around or type in a number for the stack size you want. The problem is that it used to put the split amount where we dropped the stack. Now it just drops the stack into an available spot in the inventory the original stack is in. This isn’t how it worked before and is a feature we don’t have after the hotfix.
Outside of that, the inventories work more or less the same. The sorting is different. Its not broken outside of a weird bug that I’ve only had happen once in the last 20 hours of play over the last week or so of playing. That bug is where items can disappear and then reappear. It seems random to me, but others have indicated its due to sorting.
I pretty much leave all my stuff on No Sort (just like before I left everything on Custom before). So this is probably why I haven’t had too many issues. I just either quick stack everything, or manually put everything where I want it.
Autorun still works for us, mine is set to Numlock where its been for these games for the last 25 years. And it works normally. I did notice it doesn’t work on controller, even on PC unless you re-map the control (I think).
One bit of feedback I’ve been harping on, and I think you guys on console should be as well is asking for the ability to remap controls. We can do this on PC with BOTH Keyboard/Mouse and Controller. It doesn’t make sense to me why you guys can’t do this. This isn’t the 1980s where we only have two buttons. Hell everytime I play Super Metroid (I do the randomizer thing) I change the controls. That’s a game from 1991 where you could remap all kinds of stuff. Probably the first console game I can think of where you can do that. So lets get with the 90s here.
u know guys what i noticed just now?
the old filtering works just fine with the benches! if u check something (weapons / mats / armor) it will show ONLY (!!!) the one u WANT (!!!) to see!
so it is still there! the inventory filter Fup is an extra worthless buggy coding on top of the old clean working one! and it is still there!
so do not wanna hear “nyaaaa it is too much work to go back”… NO!
it was too much work to Fup what already worked fine!
so scrap off this useless filter coding from top of the already worked one!
HOW EZ is to move an item from the bench to your inventory? click here and there and set up this and that and change this and that and move and drop… AND DONE! WAS EZ right? so much more fun as just clicking once! NEXTGEN EXTRA CONTENT!!!
HOW TO MOVE ALL YOUR ITEMS FROM YOUR INVENTORY IN TO A BOX TUTORIAL:
(the video is cut short so u not need to watch all the way trough)
I’m on next gen xbox and ps, since aow 4 the menus have been clunky and working properly when trying to move things.
I know how to use the menus.
Might not happen to everyone but I’ve never had this issue before and I’ve been playing it since the year it released.
Hopefully the issue is fixed in next hotfix
Since aow 4 we can split items in half and half again etc, before we could chose how much we split from stacks.
And we can set keybinds for controller and keyboard depending which one is used on console.
The old inventory system should absolutely be returned. There was nothing wrong with it and i don’t think anyone from the player community has asked for these changes as Funcom somewhere stated. Why would we want to make our lives more difficult than they already are?
dont worry guys! here is the new ■■■■!
after using filter in the construction hammer it remembers only on the last filtered elements. so i tried to delete the filter… now the hammer is empty.
i guess the filter works… FILTERS OUT EVERYTHING!!!
Roll back this inventory change … it’s an absolute sh*t show trying to do anything in the inventory or stations COME ON fix this … I’ve stopped playing becuaee ifs too frustrating and I’ve spent a lot of money on this game you keep breaking … what kinda of quality of life is this? It’s called how to break your game! Eveyone I talk with on controller is losing their mind with frustration going to play other games instead …. It’s not a matter of relearning it … it’s garbage to navigate and frustrating and for the love of god the idea of this duet bench is utter crap! You have a system that works and you go and wreck it???
They just need to roll back the entire update, that’s what we need. Roll it back, re-implement the 3 or 4 good changes and all the actual bug fixes from it and then leave it alone. The entire inventory and UI overhaul has been a complete dumpster fire, just like the majority of the update to be honest, but it’s so bad even after the “hotfix” that I don’t even want to play the game anymore. It’s a pathetic attempt at “updating” a UI that didn’t need to be changed in any significant way. It looks horrible, and the functions are broken. A complete roll back is the answer.
Yeah, it makes no sense at all. It was fine the way it was.
100% right. No one asked for this, it wasn’t needed, and we don’t want it.
I want the game I bought, supported by purchasing DLC, and enjoyed. I do not want this absolute disaster that Funcom has turned Conan Exiles into. I would be happiest with a roll back to pre-Sorcery. Re-implement the handful of good changes and all the bug fixes since then and then leave the game alone for a while, stop messing with things every few months. Let me ENJOY the game again. How hard is that, really?
I think most of us would prefer the old UI. The new one is hot garbage at best so… at the very least they should put a toggle old/new UI option in the game so the 3 or 4 people that like the new one can have it and the rest of us can have what we’ve had, used with no issue, and enjoyed for YEARS.
100% old UI … it’s an absolute noghtmare
And most of us would disagree.
The UI has bugs, but in my opinion, once they readd custom sort we will have a far more useful inventory management system. And that is what this UI change is about.
We don’t need a roll back we just need the system fixed.
“OK, luv U bye bye”
In your opinion. Other then the bugs I like the new UI/inventory system.
not to defend funcom for their failures but if we all used our brains we shouldn´t need to ask for rollbacks
