Frame rate issue on the cinematic intro leading to frame rate issues in the game. The recent update has brought some problems with it, the sudden increase in frame rates bring one of them. I have checked with other players on different servers as they seem to experience the same problem. In and around base and outside base in the world, soon as you move really it flips out. Pets and things being invisible is minor bug compared to frame rate problems, it makes it near impossible to do anything.
Turn “display journey steps” off in settings - that’s the only fix for now. Hopefully devs will come and say something about a planned hot fix soon!
On PS5. Had massive stuttering after the update. My friend was not experiencing it. I was running off an external where he was running off internal. Moved mine to internal and it was mostly cleared up. Heard from another PS5 user and a PS4 user that theirs was also fixed by this.
I first wrote a very angry post. But, after playing a bit longer, I can explain why the framerate dropped in the whole Exiled Lands.
Who is the dumbest idiot who requested moving trees ?
My big mistake, other than buying the game in the first place, was to build my house at the middle of a forest. It’s a small house, given the size of all the gigantic castles that you can find at any obelisk spot in the world. Now, instead of spending CPU on computing more frames, my PS5 spends CPU at moving the branches and leaves of each and every tree around me.
Have you seen how the game is optimized ? Well, I think it is not, in fact. A year ago, I had already observed that, when you go away from your base and approach back, you can first see appear the insides of it, the god altars, the thrals and the tables, and then you see the outers walls. That means the rendering does not sort objects based on whether they are visible or not. Recently I discovered that my table thralls first appered naked, and then the clothes popped. That means, at any computed frame, a NPC is first drawn naked, then its clothes are rendered. Is the object sorting so time consuming, the devs preferred not to do it at all ? Or is my PS5 CPU time that cheap it’s too high a cost to optimize your game ?
Not to speak about Mek Kamoses place. It’s now filled with objects and NPCs with no regard for GPU computing. They just added and added. When you go there, don’t bring thralls, as Khitan guards will attack them, and fighting at that framerate is impossible. You will die. A lot. There are a lot of Khitan guards, as they added-and-added just for the fun of it.
Why did we need moving trees in a game with so much framerate problems is beyond me. They move a little, like responding to a soft breeze… As a storm rages in the ambient sound, and as the rain falls straight down… they are smoothly moved by A SOFT BREEZE THAT’S NOT THERE !
Sorry for the anger, but it’s there, I have to lash out.
When is this issue going to be fixed?
This bug is game breaking.
You are going to lose new/paying players to the game if this kind of bug is not resolved quickly.
My Gf bought the new battle pass too and hasn’t been able to progress any of it for days now. And she doesn’t want to even sign in if it’s this choppy and unplayable. If we start to lose bases because the game is unplayable… I can tell you this: We won’t be coming back.
Hello everyone,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Could you please let us know if you notice this stuttering/freezing in specific spots on the map? If so, please send us a screenshot of the in-game map pointing to these locations.
Do specific activities/actions make this issue worse? If so, could you please let us know which ones and give more details?
Thank you in advance
It was definitely everywhere for me. Turning off the Journey Steps in the UI seems to clear it up for most people I’ve corresponded with on Reddit. No idea why having that enabled would cause such stuttering.
